Loved that place in the 70's and 80's when thy had weekly races.

Loved Newport when it was dirt. Saw some great races there in late 70's and early 80's. The big race that Robert Smawley had there in 1978 is what started the NDRA.

Yep. Rome in the 70's was the best racing I have seen. Watching Snooks run the highside at Rome was worth the price of admission.

Hate to hear that. Talked with Snooks two weeks ago at Gordon Brown's reunion. He had some health issues in recent years but seemed to be doing well. RIP #29.

Nice to see someone under the age of 40 winning some of these races. JD may never have a stretch like this again but I think he will be one of the 5 or 6 guys to beat over the next 10-12 years. Look...

One thing we know for certain. Donnie Moran won more than 1 mil in 2001.

Remember seeing Mike Duvall tossed for being light at a NDRA race at Atomic (TN) . Local driver "Little" Bill Corum inherited the win.

First memory of John was in the Windy Williford #88 chevy 2. This was late 70's in the B class. Great driver and very friendly to the fans. RIP Big John
