Use the 2.0 from the 70's.. Its 10.4 lbs bare.. Use the whole 2.0 setup.. 23 spline...Simple... Just have it drilled for the 2.3 crank.. Works great...My Pinto flywheel was 21 lbs. So I lost nearly...

The 70 -72 2.0 is 10.4 lbs..Its a 23 spline.. have it drilled to fit the 2.3 crank. Simple.... light...Use the 2.0 clutch and pressure plate.

Id lean toward carb or timing.. Ive turned a completely stock 88 Stang motor 7200 before the springs gave way..

Battling the same problem with a friends carb. He over looked one simple thing..Did you "tune" the carb with the mixture screws and a vacuum guage? If not You are giving up a valuable tuning...

toynv.. I honestly have no idea.. The 32/36 got loaned out and I decided to race, so we bolted it on... Ran good so we never touched it...Probably alot more perfomamce there waiting to be untapped. ...

I run a 3.80 with the 2.14 with 15's and a rollout of 88 on the RR. Not great for restarts, but once you get moving you fly by on the top.Thats an 8.13 uncorrected. 7300...Thats a high bank!

I use a power rack with a quickener. No probs.

I have an 80 Bobcat/Pinto with a 2 to 1 quickener, and no P/S. Never had it never will.. no problems

According to desktop dyno Im at 219, and mine isnt that complicated, or expensive.. So im sure 200 is reachable..

We run the heavy 5/8 coarse used commonly on dirt cars, with 1 inch nuts..

Mobil 1 synthetic after break in..Bearings look new after a season.. Seen it in 4 cyl and multiple V8 cars..Enought to make me trust their 15,000 mile stuff in my daily...For a low budget racer it...

Id run a Saturn. Lighter weight, and less HP but they make good power, and are balanced pretty well.. You never said dirt or asphalt though.

And to answer your question.. NO.. The early 70's 2000cc does NOT interchange in any way with any 2.3.
