Media Night/Test n Tune Cancelled
Mark Balzano Memorial to kickoff 2010 Campaign
Mountain State Motorsports Promotions regretfully has made the decision to cancel the Media Night/ Test n Tune Session slated for Tuesday Night, May 11th due to rain. With a forecast calling for 80% chance of rain on Tuesday and more during the week, speedway officials have unfortunately been forced to pull the plug early on practice this week and will concentrate on a few last minute chores before opening the gates in grand fashion on the 25th Anniversary Season at the “speedplant” Sunday Night, May 16th with the running of the Mark Balzano Memorial.
What better way to mark the return of the “speedplant” than with the reemergence of a West Virginia Motor Speedway classic event and the highly regarded running of the traditional “Mark Balzano Memorial” as WVMS celebrates its 25th Anniversary Grand Reopening Event.
The Mark Balzano Memorial will officially kick off the 2010 season at WVMS on Sunday Night, May 16th as the $5,000 winner share will be up for grabs with the O’Reilly All Star Late Models headlining the card. Some of racing’s elite including Steve Shaver to Billy Moyer have garnered victory in memory of one of the Ohio Valley’s most promising racers.
The first event of the campaign will not only feature the high horsepower Super Late Models in racing action but the first appearance of the Mid Ohio Valley FASTRAK Late Model Touring Series $1,200 to win main event with the TSMA Modifieds and Hotmods rounding out the card. Gates will open at 3, with hot laps getting underway at 6. General admission tickets are priced at $20, pit credentials $35, with kids 6-11 $5 and kids 5 and under free.
