If you consider old sedans in 1950's as latemodels i've seen them old sedans in 1950 they were race cars factory made at time.
Sometime between 81 and 84 sitting at turn three at Williams grove speedway. I remember someone talking about the race that happened there, I think it was a STARS race or something. I was pretty young then, like elementary school, if that track was not such a big thing to me I would not remember those nights anymore.
I absolutely hated them and could not wait for them to get off the track, just about everybody around me held the same sentiment. It was not my first race, I have no idea who won and I was not a fan after wards.
I remember everybody cheering when the sprints came back out for a feature, don't remember who won that night in the Sprints but the talent at that track back then was second to none. All I know is I was probably rooting for Steve Smith and I believe he was in the 66 Black Bandit back then (not the 19 he is more well known for).
1. Spring 1979
2. Southern Ohio Raceway
3. Two weeks old
4. Chargin' Charlie Swartz

I was seventeen and it was 1971 @ Dorsey Speedway in Elkridge, Maryland. I believe Vic Lewis took the feature in the #96 55 Chevrolet. I believe the following year all the Chevy guys switched from 55's to chevelle bodies. I remember that being a pretty big deal. I was hooked immediately. My first race was actualy eight years earlier on Long Island @ Islip Speedway. All the cars were coupes.
