    Default Farmer city speedway

    Fans of racing
I am not sure where to start other than to say that everwhere I have traveled inthe past few months almost every race fan and team has asked what farmer city going to do? The million dollar question? Well who knows for sure? In the past weeks I have e-mailed the city trying to reach the fairboard or someone who would talk or mail me!
Here is why ! I represent a promoter for a southern state who understands the words Farmer city speedway! The fastest quarter mile in the country , it draws the best race cars and teams in the country, as well as fans!!! This man would like to buy farmer city speedway or at least lease it from the city! This man currently owns a track where top name cup drivers will come and race !! So he is no stranger to racing and even from his home in the south has heard about the Farmer city speedway!
We have heard the city bought it BACK FROM THE FAIRBOARD, BUT WHO KNOWS FOR SURE? We would ask you the fan if you know someone on the fair board , or know the truth please comment here at 4 m net! or perhaps we can arrange a private way to discuss and or move forward!!
In closing I hope its not to late it would be a shame to see this great speedway lost to delveopment that may never come, or lost becuase a handfull dont like noise 1 night for a few months in the summer time! The city needs to look into the fact that the longevity of the ones who dont like friday night racing in Farmer city might be very short in the big picture of things. When they are gone, then what? If the delopment fails then what? nothing is for sure?
That speedway is! and every friday night people come from far away to spend their hard earned money at farmer city!! Thank you! I hope to hear somthing from this! have a great day!!

If a promoter were serious about the track there are a number ways to get the contact info. Contact info for the city and the fairboard are just a Google search away. You could call a former FC promoter.
I don't know why you'd want to talk to the city when the place belongs to the fair board. As for what's going on with the track.....that depends on who you talk to. There are at least three rumors currently going around about who will be running it next year.
The threat of developement and noise have nothing to do with the track sitting idle much of this year.

Thank you for your information, I wish I would have googled it, and I did try to make contact withe former promoter but after 5 days I gave that he would ever contact me, and he still has not at this time!!
As far as rumers they are just that, of course the threat of devlopment has always been the rumer! By shaking the the tree you can get someone like your self to step forward and offer up the information as they know it, and somehow in the end the truth will surface!!! thank you for taking the time to contact me have a great day!!

Hello I am very curious about Farmer City as I have NEVER seen this track. What type of crowds did this place draw? how many people do you estimate were in the stands? in the pits? on a weekly show how many cars show up to race as a regular?more than 200 cars weekly? how many are REALLY wanting to see this track open back up? I really want some positive feedback/history on this track! Saturday night show or Friday night Show? Are there houses close by who wants the track to stay closed? I would love to know why this closed in 2010 to begin with! UMP Sanctioned Track or no? I will be checking back in hopefully I will have some feedback good or bad I really want to know! Thanks Guys and hopefully if this is what many in the area want it will be God's will to get it back opened and running in a more effective and productive way. Remember it takes EVERYONE to make something like this happen without a promoter there is no track ...without the cars there is no show...without the fans we have NOTHING! so please let us hear what you think.

If you've never seen it, you've missed out on a great track and some great racing! Farmer City Speedway was THE place to be on Friday nights for many years. Car counts were some of the best in the region, attendance was outstanding, and the racing was great. There was a change in promoters a few years back. Things were seemingly OK for awhile, but over the past few years for one reason or another car counts dropped, sportsman class was dropped, crates were added and attendance fell off. There was another change of promoters for 2010 and to say things didn't go well would be an understatement.
The track has been UMP sanctioned since the late 1980's. The former promoter was also co-promoter at another nearby track. The promoters of the two tracks came up with a plan to run both tracks under the UMP banner on different weekends. Neither track did well and both had short seasons.
I'm curious as to how UMP will handle this next year as the other track is less than 40 miles away. As best as I can tell the precident was set in 2006-2007 when Macon closed early and Lincoln finished out the season under UMP on Saturday nights, but was not allowed to be UMP on Saturdays in 2007 when Macon opened back up under different management. Using that example Farmer City SHOULD be UMP in 2011 if they choose to retain UMP sanction, and the other track shouldn't be UMP. Of course the guys at the other track will say that's unfair but UMP has had the "50 mile rule" for a long time.
Yes, there are houses nearby but I can't say if the neighbors want the track to remain closed. The city enacted a curfew in '05.
Relationships with the city, racers, fans, and sponsors will need to be mended. Thats easier said than done. The lousy economy isn't going to make things any easier. The place needs some TLC. Nothing major though. Whoever promotes the track in 2011 and beyond will have an uphill battle so they better bring their A game!

Thank you Pops ....as far as the mending with "FAITH" everything is possible. TLC should not be a problem it will take everyone working together and a reliable staff to pull this off. I have no doubts this can't be done. I visited I-55 many times this year and the economy seemed to have NO IMPACT on them. They run a fine facility and draw the people in by the dozens. I was totally impressed with that place. You can't please everyone but you can find a "Happy Median" in there somewhere. What is the curfew? I agree show some respect to those who live nearby which means earlier start times I suppose! A Game you say? well nothing better than a challenge to make what "You Say" the place to be ... 2011 is looking up and hopefully this will be something to be promising for everyone involved. I say this will be "THE PLACE" to be again and then some!

also what do you think it would take to be "the BEST place in the region again"? This obviously can't be fixed without feedback from everyone. I really want to know before walking in blinded.

I-55 Speedway isn't in central Illinois. The economy in THIS region has really been hard on tracks. Some good people have lost a ton of money trying to run some very nice tracks in this area. Kankakee is on it's 5th promoter since 2004, and the track was closed in 2008. VCS is on at least it's 5th promoter since '05. Macon has changed hands. BCS has closed, probably for ever. Lincoln has tried Sundays, Saturdays, and now Fridays. They have had several promotion teams. They continue to struggle. LaSalle has changed promoters a couple times. Macomb has had a number of promoters. One of the nicest facilities in the area, Boswell,IN sits idle.
What will it take to put FC back on top? The same things it takes to make any track successful..... A promoter, I mean PROMOTER. I've been around the sport in one way or another for 47 years and I can only think of three people that could pull it off. And no, I'm not going to name them on here.

Almost sounds too good to be true! (Hopefully not)
