Widening Metric front end

Are there any other lower a arms that will fit a g-body metric car to widen the front end other than the early novas. I have a ton of 5 1/2 front spring and dont really want to buy all new 5". Thanks

There is a Ford crown vic that fits not sure years. Maybe lengthen the metric lowers?

70-81 Camaro lowers will bolt right on.

the ford go on the camaro clip or full size

metric uses the early nova stuff its not a bolt on job tons to change

the ford crown vic lower can be made to work but you have to cut off the lower rear frame mount and move it about 3/4 of an inch.the same for the camaro lower's it take work but it can be done. the nova lowers also lengthen the wheel base because you have the put them on backwards to make them work.

Impala spindles arn't a bolt on either...I wouldn't do it to much work.

I have been thinking about building a new metric car, but taking the bare frame and cutting it down the middle and widening the crossmembers and centerlink has anyone ever done that?

why dont ya just run a shallow'er wheel off set,...going from a 4'' to a 2'' youll be 4 inches wider....spacers can work too....

My reasoning for widening the frame is to put the springs farther apart. I think it would make the car more stable and predictable.

1982 and newer camaro will bolt right up . i think they are longer than the g body metric.

Yea but the way I am thinking about doing it, I can go ahead and make it a little wider that the older frame.

My tracks rules say NOTHING about widening the frame and all my suspension mounts would still be in the same place. What about people moving the top a-frame mounts? That is done ALL over the country!! You will be hard pressed to find a front running car that hasn't had the top a frame mounts moved or the a frames themselves lenthened or shortened!

I had a metric modified that I cut the a arm at the bushing then took a second a arm and cut about an inch or 2 from the bushing and welded that piece on the first a arm.Welded my wieght jack where it fit the spring.You want the tallest lower balljiont in it, moog 727 If I remember right

The 82 up Camaro does have a strut, but it does not have the spring on the strut. The spring is in the conventional location. I have never thought of this, but You might want to investigate it some. Surely you know someone with that body style Camaro that you could compare too. I may check into this myself.

yeah,..i got a 86 z28 under the shed,..an a mid 70s camaro clip under race car beside it,...ant did nuttun to the 86 since i drug it home...

widening the frame is by far the easiest way of accomplishing your goal . but it's not legal in u.m.p racing . although their are a few cars out there that finished high in the point standings (from my area) that have that alteration in them . it works ! and so far ...... u.m.p don't seem to mind . lol .
alot of cars have the nova lowers also . and i think that is ellegal as well . i prefer the camaro . it comes wider from the factory . and usually wider is better .

There are also a lot of cars that work fine without going to the extreme of widening them out. JMO
