Default UFo Tracks & Sponsors Release Point Fund Payment to Drivers!

UFo Race Championship Tracks & Sponsors Release 2010 Point Bonus Funds to Drivers!

(MARS PA) – Less than one month after the completion of the 2010 racing season, the UFo Race Championship tracks and sponsors are distributing point bonus funds to the top 10 drivers in the point standings.

The UFo Race Championship points bonus payoff is the highest in the 3-year history of the tour, totalling $17,500. The solid point fund was made possible through sponsorships from Hoosier Tire Mid-Atlantic of Finksburg, MD, Roaring Springs PA and Saxonburg, PA, Lias Tire/American Racer of Indiana, PA and Townsend Gas & Oil VP Distributor at Homer City, PA and contributions of the tracks. While the total point fund may appear to be moderate in size on the surface, it is being funded without the use of entry fees to the races teams. The elimination of entry fees at UFo Race Championship events saved race teams a total of $25,000 in 2010, which translations to an additional $42,500 put into the hands of race teams in comparison to similar entry-fee events. UFo Race Championship event payoffs totalled over $300,000 during the season in addition to the points bonus.

The 2010 chase for the UFo Race Championship was a excellent points battle throughout the season with one of the closest finishes in history! Chad McClellan of Stoystown, PA won the 2010 UFo Race Championship by just 1 point over Keith Barbara of South, Park PA. Both drivers traded the points lead throughout the season with the final race of the season determining the champion.

Chad McClellan, of Stoystown, PA turned his 1st flight on the UFo tour into the 2010 championship. The road to the championship provided some obstacles for McClellan but he proved to withstand the challenges. With mid-season motor issues, McClellan competed in several events using a motor from Ron Delano as well as a car from Dave Graber. Persistence paid off with several top finishes during 2010 UFo events at Roaring Knob, Tyler County and Dog Hollow. When the final checker flew on the 2010 season at “The Ultimate” at Roaring Knob, McClellan came out on top of the UFo point standings by just 1 point!

McClellan won almost $13,000 in UFo competition including $4,940 for the 2010 Championship. Sponsors for McClellan include Brothers Valley Coal Sales, Fieg Brothers Coal, Curtisy Acres, McClellan Electric & Construction, Bernheisel Race Components/Lazer Chassis, Hoosier Tire Mid-Atlantic, MS Shock Therapy, On Time Body & Graphics and Pittsburgh Machine Service.

Keith Barbara of South Park, PA has not only attended every UFo event since its inception. After finishing 3rd in the 2008 and 2009 standings, Barbara, advanced into 2nd in the final 2010 points. Strong finishes at Mercer, Tyler County and PPMS kept Barbara in the hunt for the championship throughout the season. Barbara won a wild $2,000 non-points tune-up “Gold Rusher” feature during the “Tri-Star Pittsburgher” weekend at PPMS from the 17th starting position. Barbara also has 1 UFo points win as he captured the $7,000 to win 2008 “Yankee Doodle.”

Beck had several strong runs at those new tracks, putting him 5th in the 2010 UFo Race Championship. UFo continues to focus to strengthen Super Late Model race in the region with 2011 changes. The 2011 UFo Race Championship payoffs will feature increases in the most crucial positions to encourage car count, with feature start money and tow money have been improved. $3,000 to win events will pay $300 to start, $4,000 to win events will pay $350 to start and $5,000 to win events will pay $400 to start. All non-qualifiers will also receive an increase to $150, which is the highest of any regional tour. With no car entry fee being deducted from the standard payoffs as typically found at higher paying Super Late Model events, that translates to much higher actual payoffs to the race teams at UFo events.

2011 car rules will continue to give the race teams a full choice of motor options. Race teams may choose from open aluminium or steel block motors, the more economical Brodix-head spec motor, or the new, ultra-economical GM 525 performance sealed motor. All motors are balanced for competition using spoiler and weight break variances, with the goal of equal competition for all. The GM 525 motor program is designed to help keep more race teams in Super Late Model competition, as it will allow race teams to compete with approximately $9,000 in motor investment.

The 2011 UFo Race Championship tour will continue to gain strength in the region with excellent racing action and strong fields of cars. The 2010 UFo Race Championship featured the highest average car count of all Super Late Model regional tours in the Northeast. Each event averaged 34 cars with the 2010 highest car count of 70 at Tyler County. The average starting positions for the top 5 feature finishers were 7th, 8th, 9th, 11th and 9th. UFo races featured a high amount of passing and clean racing with few multi-car incidents. The tour is dedicated to continue these high-quality events into the future.

The UFo Race Championship is an event marketing alliance among independent supertracks in the Pennova region (Western PA-Northern WV-Northeastern OH). Participating speedways presents their own championship Super Late Model events throughout the season using common tech and procedure rules with a year-end point bonus for the top finishing drivers on the tour. Eligible tracks are within the 3 hour travel distance of the central point of Washington, PA.

The UFo Race Championship Tour is proudly sponsored by Lias Tire/American Racer of Indiana, PA, Hoosier Tire Mid-Atlantic with distributors in Saxonburg, PA, Roaring Springs PA and Finksburg, MD and Townsend Gas and Oil at Homer City, PA. 100% of their points fund sponsorship will be given to the top point standing drivers in prize money and awards.
