CARTERSVILLE, GA – The season finale for the NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series National Tour will still be held on November 27 in Columbus, MS, but it will move from Columbus Speedway to Magnolia Motor Speedway as a part of the 9th Annual Possum Town Grand Prix. The season finale will be a 40-lap $2,500-to-win, $200-to-start main event at The Mag.

The NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Invitational Race will be held on Friday night, November 26 at Magnolia Motor Speedway. This event is for invited NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series competitors and will be 25 laps paying $1,000-to-win and $100-to-start with no entry fee.

This event was originally scheduled for Columbus Speedway with National Touring events on Friday and Saturday night. Race organizers decided to cut back on the event from two National Touring events to one due to do the sluggish economy and move the event across town to Magnolia Motor Speedway.

That will all but clinch the $20,000 2010 NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series National Championship for Eric Cooley of Fulton, MS. All Cooley has to do is complete one qualifying lap to become a two-time NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series National Champion. Cooley will have two straight national championships on his resume, all before his 20th birthday.

Matthew Turner of Dawsonville, GA is second in the NeSmith Chevrolet DLMS National point standings and Justin McRee of Tuscaloosa, AL is third. Three drivers separated by 48 points will battle for the 2010 $5,000 VP Racing Fuels Rookie of the Year Award and the fourth through sixth spots in the National point standings.

Larry Harrod of Plains, GA leads the VP Racing Fuels Rookie of the Year point standings and is fourth in the National standings with 1,508 points. Shannon Lee of Lumberton, MS is second in the VP Racing Fuels RoY standings and is fifth in the National points with 1,476 points. “Chargin’ Charlie” Henderson of Cottondale, AL is third in the VP Racing Fuels RoY points and sixth in the National standings with 1,460 points.

Chris McElhenney of Lake, MS, Michael Blount of Sumrall, MS, Marcus Minga of Shannon, MS, and the 2008 NeSmith Chevrolet DLMS National Champion Chip Brindle of Chatsworth, GA round out the top ten in the NeSmith Chevrolet DLMS National point standings.

The 160 drivers invited to the 5th Annual NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Invitational Race at Magnolia Motor Speedway on November 26 are the drivers that finished in the Top 10 of the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West and East Region point standings, and drivers that finished in the Top 10 in track points at each NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series sanctioned track.

The NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Invitational Race field will be led by the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region Champion Johnny Stokes of Columbus, MS and the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series East Region Champion Chase Edge of Lafayette, AL.

Magnolia Motor Speedway will host an open practice session on Thursday night, November 25 from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. On Friday, November 26 and Saturday November 27, the Magnolia Motor Speedway pit gates open at 12 noon. Times for Registration, Technical Inspection, Drivers Meeting and Hot Laps will be announced in the coming days.
