Does anyone know the spring rate of the green Rayburn spring?

    Thanks

I'm not sure of the rate, but I do know it is a spring designed for a "Punch Press" and you can get them from industrial supply catalogs. We switched to a Freeburg Racing components unit, which uses a big spring, like a 6th coil, and have been much happier. The Rayburn unit works, but is prone to spring breaks.

The length is the same as the Rayburn unit, but instead of the small(punch press) spring it uses a larger 2-1/2 i.d. spring like you would use on a 6th coil. We ran our pull unit a little different than standard. We mounted ours further forward on the pumpkin and we found we liked the long pull bar setup best, but we had success with the freeburg unit in both long and short(std. length) configuration.

1,800 pounds ,we always ran the longer green spring.they are punch die springs made by danely.the problem is die springs is they are designed to opperate with in 25% of ther over all free length.so coil binding them kills the life of the spring going to the longer one helped.I got ours at MSC tool supply a large industial supply company.enco also has them.

I double checked my notes the spring is 1,800 pounds cost $14.85 each.

Perhaps, but it would be far better to shim the unit so the unit goes solid instead of coil binding the spring. Coil bind is a negative to any spring's life/intended design and a short cut to thinking in my view.

The green spring we got from Rayburn was 2,300lbs. The blue one was 800lbs.
