    Default water pump

400 gm block .40 over steel heads on gas. Approx. 500-hp.
how much water pump is needed? I see they start at $80. and go up to $220. for a edelbrock circle track. Already have a single pass allstar rad. 24" gonna add allstar shroud and have 20% reduction pullies. we will get the 32 pitch 15" fan 1-1/2 from rad. Will this setup cool this eng. and does one really need the $hi-dollar pumps? I dont mind paying for the stewart or edelbrock if it is necesssary.

We've ran them both, and the extra money spent is well worth it. We never had any luck with the low dollar ones, they either don't move enough water, or spring a leak, or flat out break. The nice part about the better pieces are that they are bulletproof enough to run for a long time.

I'd scrap the reduction pulleys, and go 1:1 too.

Here is the most informative source on cooling.

I don't know if this person is still in business or not but we bought the private label pump from him in 09 and it works great.
