    Default wrist pin question

i see on e-bay where a lot of wrist pins are cassidium(sp) coated. is this just to reduce friction or can they be run in a rod without bushings? sorry about the stupid question but i'm curious. thanks.

Yep, the coating lets you run a rod without a bushing. They also help prevent pin galling on high HP engines with a narrow "box" forging, which doesn't allow enough splash to get to the pins, and piston guided engines.TB
