    Default Disc brakes on rear of metric

    What is everybody doing for disc brakes on a metric car rearend. Mine has a ford 9in with 4 3/4 bolt pattern. Looking to put disc on it but don't want to buy them then find out that the calipers hit the frame rail. So are you guys using just rotors off of a gm or are you buying hats with rotors and if so what kind of backspacing and maybe part numbers would be great. Thanks for any help. Right now I am looking at buying just the rotors from JR motorsports part number prc-1750 they come with around 2" Backspacing I am thinking they might work.

    thay have several kits,...ones with an without hats,...ones that bolt up where backin plate did,...wield on caliper mounts,clap on mounts....speedway got lotta options for you on this

    I beleive i used a set of rotors and calipers off of a late 90's blazer if u wanted to do it the cheap way. And all u have to do to avoid hitting the frame is instead of mounting the caliper bracket on the top of the rearend where its supposed to be just rotate it to the back side of the rearend.

    The blazer rotors won't work for my ford 9 in they are to small and won't fit over the axle flanges.

    Cool

    if you have the flange turned down then they will work.. you can also grind them you self if you have the patience to do it.. lol

    we always used the front rotors off a jeep grand cherokee 4wd. I am not positive on the year, but i think it was the early 90s

    1996 Jeep Cherokee 4wd, front rotors will work, if you have the small axle flange. If you dont, then you will have to turn the axle flange down, so it will fit inside the rotor. The bolt patter will be 4 1/2", but you can redrill them to whatever.

    Or just do it the easy way and buy the aftermarket kit anyone from sppedway would work saves the headach of trying to find the right parts on old junkers i just converted a 7.5ford to disc for 100 bux the 9" wount be much more just buy the kit that uses the gm metic caliper just mount them on the back you will have lots of room
