did many of the regular guys of u.s.m.t.s race the dual in the desert race in vegas ? i didnt go this year .

No. I don't think so. That's an IMCA show and it may have been the same weekend as the Fall Nationals in Las Cruces, New Mexico. Terry Phillips who runs a lot with USMTS won that $7777 at the Vegas race though.

The USMTS guys will run at bigger shows with USRA rules (very close). They include the big races in New Mexico, the Wes Hurst in Arizona and the USRA Nationals in Fountain City, Wisconsin. Those all pay at least $10,000 to win for the weekends. A few will do IMCA shows but it's usually in someone else's car.

Average high temps for Baytown for these race dates is 66 with a low of just 46.

Ryan 'The Reaper' Gustin and Corey Dripps -- 2 of the Iowa Dirt Knights -- are headed for Houston to race in this one after racing in Florida.

Tennessee's TJ Herndon, Mississippi's Chris Moore, Louisiana's Shane Hebert along with Texans Kenny Gaddis, Tyler Townsend and Rodney Sanders are just a few of the talented racers entering the USMTS Spring Nationals.

Practice is THIS WEDNESDAY from 6 to 10. $20 pit pass. Only night for hot laps.

Wednesday, February 16th

• Times: Gates open at 4 p.m., practice from 6-9 p.m.

• Tickets: Grandstands free, pits $20.

• All classes welcome.

Wednesday will be the only night for practice - no hot laps on Thursday, Friday or Saturday.

Thursday, February 17th

• Times: Pit gate opens at 3 p.m., grandstands open at 5 p.m., drivers meeting at 6 p.m. and racing at 6:30 p.m.

• Tickets: Adults $15, kids 6-12 $5, under 6 FREE, pits $30.

• Support Class: USRA Southern Limited Modifieds ($500 to win).

Friday, February 18th

• Times: Pit gate opens at 3 p.m., grandstands open at 5 p.m., drivers meeting at 6 p.m. and racing at 6:30 p.m.
