Ball Joint Choice

Has anybody used the QA1 ball joints that can be adjusted to 0 lbs of resistance. How do they compaire to the Howe brand ones? Do they last, how hard are replacement parts to get? Can you get longer studs if needed?

Or are they a cheap knock off and I should only get Howe ones if I want a good set.

we use howe for years, seem to be the best out there. but now port city makes some same as the howe but cheaper in price but same performance.

Replacement parts are easy to come by for the QA1 balljoints.

+.100" and +.500" studs available for each application.

we used the qa1 ball joints all last year. absolutely love them. The only downside is they don't come with a rubber boot to keep dirt out. Can't beat the price and if you have a local dealer then your parts are very easy to come by.

Have had no problems with the QA1 stuff

Being that they don't get bent how due they hold up can you get a yr out of them being 10 lap heats and 25 lap feature for about 30 races or due they wear out faster.

we ran all year last year on ours. we tore them apart here in the off season and they're ready for another season

How hard are they to adjust or take apart? The website says can be adjusted to zero resistance, do they have slop when adjusted like that? And do they take special tools to rebuild?

There is a tool kit ($28.95) that comes with a spanner wrench and hex tool. When adjusted to be free, there is no slop. If you go really really loose, there would be slop, but common sense would tell you right away not to go that far.

When holding the balljoint in your hand horizontally, proper breakaway torque would allow the stud to fall towards the bottom on its own.

I've ran the QA1 lowers for 2 seasons, and they are still in great shape...for the money, you can't go wrong! (I've also ran the upper, and only bent one....and I've gone through at least 4-5 a-arms along the way).
