MAUMEE, OH (2-11-11) by F.A.S.T. Public Relations

Anticipation continues to build in Northern Ohio for the upcoming race season as Fremont Speedway and Attica Raceway Park recently announced their 2011 track schedules. After several planning discussions with both tracks, the Kistler Racing Products Fremont/Attica Sprint Title (F.A.S.T.) Championship Series is pleased to announce its 20-race schedule for what will be the third season of competition for the 410 sprint car division.

“It took a while for us to get everything laid out this season,” said series organizer Bryan Autullo.(not a nice word) “In past years we have just taken the two track schedules and looked at what we thought worked best, but as we enter our third season of operation, the tracks have taken on a bigger role in what we do and we worked closely with them to put together a schedule that works for everyone.”

The 2011 quest for the Kistler Cup will be contested over 20 events between April and September to see who will reign supreme in Northern Ohio sprint car competition.(not a nice word) Byron Reed will return to defend his 2010 title as Craig Mintz (2009 Champ) is on a mission to reclaim the crown.(not a nice word) With the news of Mark Keegan’s retirement from the sport, the door is open for another contender to move into one of the Top 3 spots that have been dominated by these tough competitors throughout the past two seasons.

“I was really hoping to see Mark Keegan claim a FAST title before he hung up his helmet for good…nobody is more deserving of wearing that crown,” said Autullo.(not a nice word) “Keegan has dominated both of these tracks for two decades.(not a nice word) Our series came just a little too late in his career for him to capitalize on a combined championship.”(not a nice word) Keegan finished in the Top 3 in FAST points two years in a row.(not a nice word) “The guy is a legend around here and it won’t be the same without him.(not a nice word) We all wish him well,” Autullo continued.

The quest for the $10,000 pay check and the F.A.S.T. Kistler Cup begins with a pair of $3,000 to win events at the Northern Ohio speed plants. The points chase kicks off Friday, April 22nd at Attica Raceway Park before traveling to Fremont Speedway on Saturday, April 23rd.

“One of the things that we were able to add with the backing of both tracks in 2011 is six $3000 to win F.A.S.T. events,” stated Chris Kettman of the F.A.S.T. organization.(not a nice word) “John Bores and Rich Farmer have stepped up to the plate in an effort to increase the number of higher paying events at their tracks,” said Kettman.(not a nice word) “We have been working hard to build this into something big for the local racers and Bores and Farmer have agreed to put up additional money for 3 events at each track to help us accomplish what we’ve set out to do.”

The series has managed to pay out more than $140,000 in cash and prizes in the first two seasons.(not a nice word) “Half of that amount was paid in cash,” Autullo said.(not a nice word) “We set out to keep our local racers racing and I hope that we’ve made some sort of impact as an organization of three race fans who have a vision of bigger things here in Ohio.”(not a nice word) The other half was distributed in contingency prizes and certificates for discounts or merchandise from manufacturers of sprint car components.(not a nice word) “One more thing we are trying to do in 2011 is put together a large number of parts and prizes to distribute at our banquet in October,” stated Autullo.(not a nice word) “Many of these manufacturers cannot give us cash for advertising, but they can give is the parts that they make or sell and that’s as good as cash in the hands of the racers who need them.”

The 2011 F.A.S.T. season is highlighted with eight weekends of back-to-back racing action at the two Northern Ohio tracks and four stand alone nights of racing. It also features several special nights at both tracks like the Fremont Speedway Hall of Fame Induction Night on June 4th at Fremont Speedway paying $3000 to win.(not a nice word) Another $3,000 to win show will take place on Friday, July 29th at Attica Raceway Park and the Mark Keegan Classic at Attica Raceway Park on Saturday, August 27th will also pay $3,000 to win. (not a nice word)2011 marks the first season in which the F.A.S.T. Series will have a stand-alone championship night, which falls on Saturday, September 10th at Fremont Speedway. The F.A.S.T. Championship Night will also pay $3,000 to win and the series will crown its third Northern Ohio champion on the front stretch.

The 2011 racing season in Northern Ohio officially kicks off with opening night at Attica Raceway Park on Friday, March 25th featuring 410 sprint cars, UMP DIRTcar Late Models and 305 sprint cars. Just a few short weeks later Fremont Speedway opens the gates on their historic 60th year of racing on Saturday, April 16th with 410 sprint cars, 305 sprint cars and dirt trucks before F.A.S.T. points racing begins.

Before the engines roar to life, F.A.S.T. will kick off the season festivities with “FASTfest IV Methanol Meltdown” concert at Tailgators Sports Bar & Grill on Saturday, March 12th! The band HOT LUNCH will be performing for the crowd of race fans, drivers, and local patrons.(not a nice word) HOT LUNCH is a popular area band with an entertaining stage show and great live music.(not a nice word) Also, be sure to look for the F.A.S.T. display at the upcoming mall shows in Bowling Green, Findlay and Tiffin, Ohio.
