Default Old style intake on vortec heads ?

Is it possible to make a non highrise cast intake work on vortec heads ? I have heard that people modify the intake to bolt on, but no details...and I've also heard that it can't be done.

Our rules don't exclude the vortec heads, but they do exclude aluminum intakes. Must be oem cast iron intake, and not be any kind of high rise or marine part.

Any one want to share some experience on this ?

I have seen it done before. you have to take the holes on the intake and elongate them so you can get clearance for the bolts to go straight down into the vortec head. I bought an aluminum intake a few years ago that came with some washers/inserts that you could use to bolt the intake down to the vortec heads.

i think eq and rhs both make vortec heads with the old style intake pattern. these would be hard to beat for the price.

true! the heads they are talking about or the junk tib heads they dont flow for @#$% true vortecs only have 4 bolts on each side 2 in front 2 in rear that go straight down like a ford intake bolt and you can have the heads redrilled for old style intake
