ford 9 gearing help
I need help with gearing for a street stock on a 5/8 mile track
-
I would ask other racers there, way too many variables for a guy on here to guess..
tire roll out, rpm desired, cubic inch etc.
-
ball park is 5.67's or 5.83's..i run a big half mile almost a 5/8 and i turn 6500 with a 358, 3400lb car. I went to 67's late last year, got the motor down in the tq range more.
Just playin' in the clay

I'm run a 358 ci, 3000 lbs with 15x10 wheel
-
Just making sure it's not a typo, 5\8 track not a 3\8 ???? That's a huge track !!!

somewhere between 4.56 and 6.00

Selinsgrove Pa. Pro Stocks mostly run 5.43. It's a BIG half mile, (actually closer to 5/8) 355 motor 2bbl 8 inch tire
-
Golden Isles was an oil based 5/8th's back in the day, took around a 5.13. When they put clay on it, went to a 5.67.

If you need more gear let me know.
I have a 9" 3rd member built by JR Motorsports. It has a Ford case, Motive Light Weight 6.00 gear, Ultra-Light Weight Full 31 spline spool, New Timkin bearings with solid spacer (not crush sleave) New Short-Wide yoke, bought wrong gear, only 6 races on gear, paid $680 shipped. Sell for $450 shipped in JAZ tote to your door.
