SCOGGINS HANGS A LITCHMOB FOR CLEVELAND LATE MODEL VICTORY

Cleveland, TN (4/2/11) --- Seasoned veteran racer Lamar Scoggins (# 32) of Cleveland, Tennessee raced to his 1st hometrack victory of 2011 Saturday night at Cleveland Speedway. The Late Model ace topped all facets of the division sweeping the competition winning both preliminar...ies and then leading the final 26 laps of the 30 lap "A" Main Feature. Setting fast time with a 14:616 lap time, Scoggins earned the $100 bonus bucks put up by Elliott's Used Cars (of Hwy 60 in Cleveland) over sixteen (16) other competitors before parking the # 32 "M&S Motors, Chambers Equipment Sales, Bodies by Rick Hixson" GRT / Race Engine Design powered racecar in KC Graphics Victory Lane. Justin Litchford, leader of the LITCHMOB, jumped out front at the drop of the green flag, but Scoggins' patiented low line moved on lap 4 was all that was needed to earn the $1,000 payday at nights end.

"It didn't take much, to get by the #4," stated Scoggins after the race. "He was having problems and we were parked together on the backside (infield pit), so I knew he'd have the advantage that is always here at Cleveland on the outside line at the start. Mark, Rick and I have really got the old car running good" concluded Scoggins. The car is an older chassis that Scoggins ran back in 2007/08 and lucky enough wasn't inside Rick Hixson's racecar shop when it caught fire this past February. Scoggins has already amassed a pair of Top-5 Southern RANKINGS events in 2011 and is around the Top-10 of region of Super Late Model racers. Scoggins survived a post race protest 2-weeks ago from former teammate and family member Lil' John Owenby, a former Cleveland Speedway Track Champion. Again this week Owenby would be runner-up to Scoggins as the checkers waved. Litchford salvaged a Top-3 finish ahead of Bobby Mayse and Hixson. Robby Greene won the Limited feature, Adam Earwood the Hobby, Lucas Pressly the FWD and Kris Poe won his second Pony race.
