Default Skid Plate for rack and pinion

What would be the best way to fabricate one? Should I use aluminum tread plate?

when we made ours we just cut a 14'' by 20'' of standard body aluminum folded that in half making a 14''x 10. then we put 3 to 4 brakes in it to get it to wrapped up in front of the rack then just drilled and bolted it the the bottum of the crossmember.

avoid 6061-T6 alum. it's common in tread plate. good for strength but doesn't bend easily.
