CARTERSVILLE, GA – Cliff Williams of Star, MS took two wins to take over the point lead in West Region and Russ Ogletree of Phenix City, AL picked up his second straight win to take over the Old Man’s Garage (OMG) East Region point lead in NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Week 2 competition.

Williams drove the Ware Construction Trak-Star to his second straight win on Friday night at Hattiesburg Motorsports Park in Hattiesburg, MS and then followed that up with a win on Saturday night at Jackson Motor Speedway in Jackson, MS. Ogletree drove the Northeast Audiology Special to victory on Saturday night at New Senoia Raceway in Senoia, GA.

Justin McRee of Tuscaloosa, AL is tied with Larry Murphy of Meridian, MS for the second spot in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region standings with 98 points apiece, just two points behind Williams. Murphy took the win on Saturday night at Whynot Motorsports Park in Meridian, MS driving the Bo Haarala Autoplex GRT.

Michael Arnold of Hattiesburg, MS is fourth in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region standings with 97 points, and Shay Knight of Columbus, MS is fifth with 96 points. Landon Frith of Terry, MS is sixth with 94 points.

Shannon Lee of Lumberton, MS, Chris McElhenney of Lake, MS and Jered Smith of Hazlehurst, MS are in a three-way tie for the seventh spot in the West Region standings with 93 points apiece. The 2007 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region Champion Jim McDuffie of Meridian, MS rounded out the top ten in the West Region with 92 points.

In other NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region Week 2 action, Kyle Berry of Poplar Bluff, MO picked up the win on Friday night at Malden Speedway in Malden, MO driving the Berry Roofing GRT. Roger Witt of Batesville, AR took the Friday night 40-point win at Batesville Motor Speedway in Batesville, AR driving the Jeff Taylor Motorsports GRT.

Chandler Petty of Austin, AR grabbed his second NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region 40-point win of the season on Saturday night at Drew County Speedway in Monticello, AR driving the Whistle Stop Barbeque Rocket.

The Saturday night 50-point win for Ogletree gives him sole possession of the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Old Man’s Garage (OMG) East Region point lead. Jimmy Elkins Jr. of Talladega, AL in the ADP Special was the winner on Saturday night at Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL, and is second in the OMG East Region standings with 99 points.

Elkins was awarded the win after the apparent first and second-place drivers, Adam Martin of Talladega, AL and Ryan King of Anniston, AL respectively, were disqualified after a post-race altercation. Both Martin and King have been issued a one race suspension and a $300 fine by NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series officials for Unsportsman-like Conduct.

Thomas Lewis of Hamilton, GA is third in the OMG East Region standings with 95 points, while Doug Ludwig of Grantville, GA and Adam Gauldin of Talladega, AL are tied for the fourth spot with 94 points.

Brian Ponder of Talladega, Al is sixth in the NeSmith Chevrolet WRS OMG East Region standings with 91 points, while Tim Bright Jr. of Waco, GA, Parrish Duncan of Newnan, GA and Mike Combs of Odenville, AL are tied for the seventh spot with 90 points apiece. Karl Parks of Alpine, AL rounds out the top ten with 87 points.

In other NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Old Man’s Garage (OMG) East Region Week 2 action, Dana Eiland of Salem, AL drove the Andy’s Auto Parts GRT to a win on Friday night at Penton Raceway in Penton, AL.

David Odom of Century, FL drove the Odom Racing Special to a 40-point win Saturday night at Flomaton Speedway in Flomaton, AL, and Greg Martin of Oliver Springs, TN was the Saturday night winner at Smoky Mountain Speedway in Maryville, TN driving the Boyd Electric Special.

In the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Chassis Manufacturers Challenge, three-time champion GRT Race Cars of Greenbrier, AR used wins by Berry, Witt, Murphy and Eiland to tie the defending and two-time champion Trak-Star Race Cars built by Boland Performance of Cuba, AL for a share of the point lead at five wins.

Williams gave Trak-Star Race Cars two wins in Week 2 competition. Rocket Chassis of Shinnston, WV is third with 2 wins, both coming courtesy of Petty. Also participating in the NeSmith Chevrolet Chassis Manufacturers Challenge are TNT Race Cars of Piney Flats, TN, Warrior Race Cars built by Goddard Performance of Knoxville, TN and Stinger Race Cars built by J.T. Kerr Racing Equipment of Rockford, TN.
