Adverse weather conditions force cancellation of Spring Dirt Nationals

(West Union, IA) This weekend’s scheduled season opener for the Dart Corn Belt Clash Late Model Series has been cancelled.

In a joint announcement made by track officials and series founder and Director Cam Granger, the two day Spring Dirt Nationals at Elko Speedway in Elko, Minnesota has been cancelled due to adverse weather conditions. Friday’s weather forecast for southern Minnesota calls for cool temperatures with high winds and rain showers throughout the day, with Saturday’s forecast calling for morning snow showers followed by unseasonably cool temperatures and high winds throughout the daytime and evening hours.

“You always hate to see your first race of the season cancelled,” noted Granger. “But with the weekend forecast being the way it was, there is no doubt the track did the right thing by making the call to cancel.”

Added Granger, “At this point, it doesn’t appear the Spring Dirt Nationals will be rescheduled. The track will need to remove the dirt from the surface to prepare for their asphalt season opener in a couple of weeks so it is doubtful we will be able to find a reschedule date.”

With the cancellation of the Elko Speedway event, the curtain will now raise on the 2011 CBC season a week from Saturday at Deer Creek Speedway in Spring Valley, Minnesota.
