    Burnside, KY- April 17, 2011- Sunday afternoon at Lake Cumberland Speedway feature event wins went to Rohn Moon of Greenwood, Indiana. In Super Late Models, Jimmy Payne of Glasgow, KY in Modifieds, Keith Decker of Somerset, KY in Super Dirt Stocks, William Shockley of Edmonton, KY in Open Four Cylinders Front Wheel Drive Division.

    Rohn Moon would grab the lead on lap 12 and lead the next 13 laps to claim his first Super Late Model Feature event of the year at Lake Cumberland. In the Super Late Model division. Moon’s victory came aboard the Courtesy of Salisbury, Computer Ease, Tipton Angus, C.J. Rayburn Racce Car. Tri State. Jeff Clemens Racing Engine machine. Dustin Linville would take runner-up honors, while Todd Coffman would take third place finish. Skylar Marlar and Wesley Brummett would complete the top five. Linville was the top qualifier among 13 entries at 14.288 seconds, while Coffman and Moon won the heats.

    Jimmy Payne would grab the early lead in the 20 lap Modified main event and would pull away at the drop of the checkered flag in the race. Payne would take the win aboard the Richard Harlow owned Diamond Auto Collision/ Crawford’s Auto Repair/Barren River Pest Control/Young’s Barber Shop, Southern Kentucky Truss sponsored #155 Larry Shaw Race Car, Frank Payne Race Engines powered mount. Cameron Marlar and Elliott Despain would take second and third, while Tim Patrick would finish fourth and Chris Johnson would recover to complete the top five. Miguel Coffey would also set quick time among 19 entries. While Payne, Miguel and Gabbert would take heat wins.

    Keith Decker would grab the lead on the start and lead flag to flag capture the 15 lap Super Dirt Stock feature event behind the wheel of his unsponsored #2 machine. Robert Houchens would take runner-up honors, while Lindsey Decker would claim third. The remainder of the top 4 would be Timmy McMillin
    Keith Decker was the top qualifier among 6 entries at 15.991 seconds, with heat win to Keith Decker.

    William Shockley would grab the lead at the drop of the green and lead flag to flag to take the race win in the Open Four Cylinder division in the Tony Shockley owned unsponsored #2 Chevette. James Petrey would finish second, with Brandon Tussey scoring a third place finish. William Shockley would win the heat.

    STARS Midwest Dirt Racing League to open April 23rd at Lake Cumberland $3,000 to win

    SOMERSET, KY (April 4, 2011)—The 2011 season opener for the STARS Midwest Dirt Racing League Late Models presented by Arizona Sport Shirts is now just one week away!

    The STARS MDRL Late Models will open a busy racing season on Saturday Night April 23rd at the Lake Cumberland Speedway in Burnside, Kentucky. This will be a $3,000 to win / $300 to start event, and being dubbed the ‘McGowan Excavating 40’ sponsored race.

    This will be the first of four series visits throughout the 2011 season at the Brandon Hardgrove promoted facility located just minutes south of Somerset, Kentucky. The track is a 3/8th’s mile clay oval which is just beginning their 31st season of competition.

    The local Open Wheel Modifieds, Super Dirt Stocks, Open 4-Cylinders and FWD’s will also be on the racing card that night. Pit Gates will open at 4:00 p.m. with the driver’s meeting slated for 6:30 p.m. and Hot Laps rolling out at 7:00 p.m. All times are Eastern. Adult General Admission will be $18.00 while Adult Pit Passes will be $35.00.

    The STARS MDRL Late Models will see a full show of Practice, Time Trials, Heat Races, Consolation Races and the 40-lap Main event. The tire rule for the STARS MDRL Late Models will be Open Front with Hoosier LM40/1600 and American Racer MD56 on the rear. These tire compounds only must punch 60 cold.

    The STARS Midwest Dirt Racing League Late Model drivers are vying for the guaranteed starting spot in this year’s 31st Annual edition of Carl Short’s Dirt Track World Championship paying $50,000 to win which will be held on October 14-15 at Schrader’s KC Raceway in Chillicothe, OH and will be sanctioned by the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series.
