Default UFo Invades Thunder Valley May 21. UFo vs ULMS at PPMS Next Up May 14!

UFo Invades at Thunder Valley Raceway May 21! PPMS Next Up!

(MARS PA) – The UFo Race Championship will fly into the Thunder Valley Raceway at Central City, PA on Saturday, May 21 for the “Shawn McGarvey Showdown.” This event will mark the 1st-ever full racing program for the UFo Super Late Models at this Laurel Highlands race track, as 3 attempts of this event at TVR in 2010 were foiled by weather.

The “Shawn McGarvey Showdown” is a tribute to multi-time TVR Limited Late Model track champion who was lost in a work-related accident in 2009. Shawn was a full-time competitor on the UFo Race Championship in the 2008 season and finished 5th in the final points. He also captured track championships at Dog Hollow Speedway and Central PA Speedway.

The UFo Super Late Models will compete in a 38P-lap feature event paying $3,008P, in honor of Shawn’s car number. A full program of extended lap heat races and consolation(s) will determine the starting grid. TVR, with its park-like setting, offers both grandstand seating and hillside seating for lawn chairs. TVR has attracted great fields of Super Late Models at its 2011 events. With the track’s central location and its strong field of home track competitors, an excellent field of UFo Super Late Models is expected for this East vs. West face-off.

TVR’s Semi-Late/Street Stocks, Pure Stocks, 4-Cylinders and Cruisers will round out the racing program. Gates will open at 5:00 with warm-ups at 7:00 and racing at 7:30 PM. Tickets will be $18 for the Grandstands for ages 11 and over, and $30 for the pits.

The payoff for the UFo Super Late Models for the “Shawn McGarvey Showdown” 38P-lap feature at TVR will be: 1st-$3,000 2nd-$1,400 3rd-$1,000 4th-$800 5th-$700 6th-$600 7th-$550 8th-$500 9th-$475 10th-$450 11th-$425 12th-$400 13th-$390 14th-$375 15th-$350 16th-$340 17th-$325 18th-$325 19th-$325 20th-$325 21st-$300 22nd-$300 23rd-$300 24th-$300 $150 paid to all cars that DNQ that make 1 lap on the track under their own power. UFo Race Championship events have NO car entry fee and NO driver membership fees.

The UFo pilots will clash with drivers from the ULMS tour at the “PENNational” at Pittsburgh’s PA Motor Speedway this Saturday, May 14. This stellar event will showcase twin 28-lap UFo/ULMS Super Late Model features, with a total of $4,000 to win both races or $2,000 to win each race. The UFo twin feature format always provides spectacular racing and distributes the payoff more evenly among the race teams. The 100-ft wide surface at PPMS is the stage for 3 and 4 wide racing action. John Flinner of Zelienople, PA and Mike Johnson of Imperial, PA split the wins in 2010.

As an added bonus to the “PENNational,” the UEMS E-mod tour will hold its 1st event of 2011 at PPMS that night. That race will pay $700 to the winner. The track’s FASTRAK Pro-Lates, Cadets, Hobby and Young Guns will also be on the racing program. The rain date for the “PENNational” will be Sunday, May 15.

Gates will open at 5:00 with warm-ups at 6:00 and racing at 7:00 PM. Adult admission will be $20 with Seniors $19, Juniors
    13-16 $10, Children 7-12 $5. Pit admission will be $35.

The payoff for the UFo/ULMS Super Late Models for the “PENNational” twin 28-lap features at PPMS will be (each race pays ½): 1st-$4,000 2nd-$2,000 3rd-$1,400 4th-$1,000 5th-$800 6th-$700 7th-$600 8th-$550 9th-$525 10th-$500 11th-$475 12th-$450 13th-$440 14th-$425 15th-$400 16th-$390 17th-$375 18th-$375 19th-$375 20th-$375 21st-$350 22nd-$350 23rd-$350 24th-$350 $150 paid to all cars that DNQ that make 1 lap on the track under their own power. UFo Race Championship events have NO car entry fee and NO driver membership fees.

The UFo Race Championship will make its debut at the Hesston Speedway on Sunday night, May 29. UFo “Triple TnT” will be a bonanza for late model fans as the event will include three 25-lap late model-type championship races. The UFo Super Late Models will compete in twin 25-lap features paying $4,000 to win both, or $2,000 to win each. The track’s Late Model Sportsman (limited/steel block/crate late models) class will also run a 25-lap championship paying $1,000 to the winner.

The Pro-Street, Hobby, Mod-4 and Factory-4 divisions will also be in competition at Hesston. Hesston will use a unique 2-session format schedule where these four divisions will warm-up and compete in their heat races and or consolations beginning at 5:00 to approximately 7:00 PM. The track will be completely re-prepped followed by Super Late Model and Late Model Sportsman warm-ups, heats and consolations beginning at approximately 7:30 PM with features for all classes following. Gates are scheduled to open at 3:30 PM.

Hesston continues to undergo mass renovation. The relocation of the outer pit area, expanded spectator parking and additional turn seating are among the 2011 improvements to the facility. The exit of turn 4 has been re-banked to provide even better racing action on the 4/10 mile.

The payoff for the UFo Super Late Models for “Triple TnT” twin 25-lap features at Hesston will be (each race pays ½): 1st-$4,000 2nd-$2,000 3rd-$1,400 4th-$1,000 5th-$800 6th-$700 7th-$600 8th-$550 9th-$525 10th-$500 11th-$475 12th-$450 13th-$440 14th-$425 15th-$400 16th-$390 17th-$375 18th-$375 19th-$375 20th-$375 21st-$350 22nd-$350 23rd-$350 24th-$350 $150 paid to all cars that DNQ that make 1 lap on the track under their own power. UFo Race Championship events have NO car entry fee and NO driver membership fees.

UFo will return to the Tyler County Speedway on Saturday, June 4 for the “King of the Bullring.” This Area-51 lap feature will pay $4,000 to the winner. The 2011 UFo season opening “Topless 51” at Tyler County provided amazing racing action with a strong field of 40 Super Late Models. After 51 laps, Jared Hawkins of Fairmont, WV roared from 13th on the grid to take the win over his brother Jacob who started 17th. 12th starting Robbie Scott, 9th starting Paul Wilmoth Jr. and 21st starting Mike Benedum followed. The top 10 finishers advances 74 positions at the “Topless 51.”

The FASTRAK Pro-Late, TSMA E-modified, TSMA Hot Mod, Mod-Lite, Eco-Flyer and children’s Mini-Wedge divisions will also be in competition. Gates will open at 4:30, Mini-Wedge Racing at 5:15, warm-ups at 6:30 and racing at 7:00 PM.

    The payoff for the UFo Super Late Models for the “King of the Bullring” Area-51 lap feature at Tyler County will be: 1st-$4,000 2nd-$1,800 3rd-$1,200 4th-$1,000 5th-$800 6th-$700 7th-$600 8th-$550 9th-$525 10th-$500 11th-$475 12th-$450 13th-$440 14th-$425 15th-$410 16th-$400 17th-$400 18th-$400 19th-$400 20th-$400 21st-$400 22nd-$400. $150 paid to all cars that DNQ that make 1 lap on the track under their own power.
