    (Mars, PA) – With the recent announcement of the closing of the Central PA Speedway, Hesston Speedway has assumed the open date of July 3 on the UFo tour for an integrated event with the already-existing 3-State Flyers race on their schedule. The new 3 State Flyers vs. UFo “Thunder by the Lake” event will be the 1st-ever face-off of these two series.

    The 3SF vs. UFo “Thunder by the Lake” will now feature a highly increased payoff. Previously scheduled as a $3,000 to win event, the Area-51 lap feature race will now pay $5,000 to win. Additionally, the feature starting grid will be increased to at least 26 cars to accommodate the provisionals for each series without reducing available qualifying postions.

    Hesston Speedway is a destination for late model fans in 2011 as their Super Late Model championship events also include a full racing program of their excellent Late Model Sportsman class. The Late Model Sportsman class utilizes Challenger-type rules which combine limited 358, open steel block and GM crate motors with weight and spoiler breaks to make all cars competitive. The 25 lap Late Model Sportsman Championship at the 3SF vs UFo “Thunder by the Lake” will pay $1,000 to the winner. Other Hesston divisions will also be on the racing program.

    The Hesston Speedway has received the 2nd stage of mass renovations by track owner David Eriksen. 2011 improvements include reconfigured track banking at the exit of turn 4, extended outside pit parking and extended spectator parking. Coupled with the improvements form the 2011 season, Hesston is on its way to becoming a showplace of motorsports for the region.

    The payoff for the UFo/3SF Super Late Models for the “Thunder by the Lake” Area-51 lap feature at Hesston will be: 1st-$5,000 2nd-$2,000 3rd-$1,400 4th-$1,200 5th-$1,000 6th-$800 7th-$700 8th-$650 9th-$600 10th-$550 11th-$525 12th-$500 13th-$490 14th-$475 15th-$450 16th-$440 17th-$425 18th-$425 19th-$425 20th-$425 21st-$400 22nd-$400 23rd-$400 24th-$400 25th-$400 26th-$400. $150 paid to all cars that DNQ that make 1 lap on the track under their own power. UFo Race Championship events have NO car entry fee and NO driver membership fees.

    Hesston’s 1st-ever UFo Race Championship event will take place on Sunday night, May 29. UFo “Triple TnT” will showcase 3-25 lap late model features. Twin 25-lap UFo Super Late Model features will pay $4,000 total to win, or $2,000 to win each. Additionally, the track’s Late Model Sportsman class will race 25 laps for $1,000. The Pro-Street, Hobby, Mod-4 and Factory-4 divisions will round out the program. Hesston track rules will limit a driver to compete in only one division at these events.

    Hesston will use a unique 2-session format schedule where the Pro-Street, Hobby, Mod-4 and Factory-4 divisions will warm-up and compete in their heat races, consolations and/or some features beginning at 5:00 to approximately 7:00 PM. The track will be completely re-prepped followed by Super Late Model and Late Model Sportsman warm-ups, heats and consolations beginning at approximately 7:30 PM with features for some of the other classes following. Gates are scheduled to open at 3:30 PM. Prices for UFo “Triple TnT” will be $18 for grandstands and $15 for junior 10-16. Pit admission will be $35.

    The UFo Race Championship is an event marketing alliance among independent supertracks in the PA-WV-MD region. Participating speedways presents their own championship Super Late Model events under the UFo banner throughout the season using common tech and procedure rules with a year-end, group funded, point bonus for the top finishing drivers on the tour. Eligible tracks are within the 3 hour travel distance of the central point of Washington, PA.
