CARTERSVILLE, GA – The 2008 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region Champion Jim McDuffie of Meridian, MS picked up his second straight and third win of the season on Saturday night driving the H.E. Mosley, Inc. Trak-Star at Whynot Motorsports Park in Meridian, MS to put himself at the top of the West Region standings after Week 7 competition.

McDuffie has 316 points with three wins, five top five finishes and six top ten finishes in six starts to lead Michael Arnold of Hattiesburg, MS by eight points in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region standings. Arnold has 308 points with six top fives and eight top tens in nine starts driving the Stockstill Trucking Trak-Star.

Jimmy Elkins Jr. of Talladega, AL continues to lead the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Old Man’s Garage (OMG) East Region standings after a second-place finish on Saturday night at Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL driving the ADP Special. Elkins has a 13 point lead over Adam Gauldin of Talladega, AL and Mike Combs of Odenville, AL.

Elkins has 360 points two wins and six top fives in eight starts. Gauldin and Combs are tied for second with 347 points. Gauldin has one win, five top fives and eight top tens in eight races driving the Adam Gauldin Racing GRT, and Combs has four top fives and six top tens in seven starts driving the Pump and Process Special.

Filling out the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region Top 10 in the 2011 standings after the first seven weeks of competition are Randy Boyd of Marion, MS in third with 293 points, Larry Murphy of Meridian, MS is fourth with 288 points, and last week’s point leader Landon Frith of Terry, MS is fifth with 286 points. Frith did not compete in Week 7 action.

Wiley Williams of Stonewall, MS is sixth in the NeSmith Chevrolet WRS West Region standings with 285 points, Bobby Jordan of McCarley, MS moved up to the seventh spot with 283 points, Tim Dees of Meridian, MS is eighth with 277 points, Cliff Williams of Star, MS is ninth with 275 points, and Daniel Bridgeman of Meridian, MS rounds out the West Region Top 10 with 272 points.

Rounding out the top five in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Old Man’s Garage (OMG) East Region are Brian Ponder of Talladega, AL in fourth with 340 points and Russ Ogletree of Phenix City, AL in fifth with 313 points.

Sixth through tenth in the NeSmith Chevrolet WRS OMG East Region standings are Doug Ludwig of Grantville, GA in sixth with 297 points, Kevin Maher of McDavid, FL is seventh with 294 points, David Crabtree of Maryville, TN is eighth with 293 points, Josh Huss of Flomaton, AL is ninth with 289 points, and Chris Griffin of Flomaton, AL is tenth with 286 points.

In other NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Week 7 West Region action, Roger Witt of Batesville, AR drove The Chrome Shop GRT to his second straight win of the season on Friday night at Batesville Motor Speedway in Batesville, AR. Travis Ashley of Batesville, AR took the win on Saturday night at Centerville Speedway in Centerville, AR driving the Bad Boy Mowers GRT.

Duke Palasini of Leland, MS took his second straight win on Saturday night at Greenville Speedway in Greenville, MS driving the Palasini Farms Special, and Chris Ragan of Ramer, TN picked up his first win of the season on Saturday night at Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, MS driving the Southeastern Pool Supply Trak-Star.

NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Friday night Week 7 West Region events at Hattiesburg Motorsports Park in Hattiesburg, MS and Malden Speedway in Malden, MO were rained out.

In Week 7 action in the NeSmith Chevrolet WRS OMG East Region, Tim Staples of Pell City, AL took his second win of the season on Saturday night at Talladega Short Track driving the Benton Nissan Rocket, and Shep Lucas of McKenzie, AL drove the Lucas Farms Trak-Star to his first win of the season on Saturday night at Flomaton Speedway in Flomaton, AL.

The defending NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Old Man’s Garage (OMG) East Region Champion Chase Edge of Lafayette, AL took his second win of the season on Saturday night at New Senoia Raceway in Senoia, GA driving the Edge’s Gas Company Special.

Edge was tuning up for a pair of NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series Touring races this weekend at Penton Raceway in Penton, AL and New Senoia Raceway. Edge, who celebrates his 18th birthday today, is also the NeSmith Chevrolet DLMS VP Racing Fuels Rookie of the Year point leader.

The NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series Tour will be at Penton Raceway this Friday night for the $2,000-to-win Spring Nationals 40, and then travel to New Senoia Raceway on Saturday night for the $2,500-to-win Spring Nationals “Slick” 50 - A Tribute To Leon Sells. Penton Raceway will be back in action with the traveling show this Friday night after a rainout last Friday night.

Three wins by McDuffie, Ragan and Lucas put the defending and two-time NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Chassis Manufacturers Challenge Champion Trak-Star Race Cars built by Boland Performance of Cuba, AL back on top of the standings with a total of 17 wins in the first seven weeks of competition.

Three-time NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Chassis Manufacturers Challenge Champion GRT Race Cars of Greenbrier, AR picked up two wins from Witt and Ashley to bring their season win total to 16 and the second spot in the standings. Staples gave Rocket Chassis its seventh win of the season and the third spot in the standings.

Also competing in the 2011 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Chassis Manufacturers Challenge and still looking for their first wins of the season are TNT Race Cars of Piney Flats, TN, Warrior Race Cars built by Goddard Performance of Knoxville, TN, and Stinger Race Cars built by J.T. Kerr Racing Equipment of Rockford, TN.
