valve cover air filters

I seem to be loosing oil out the little filters on the vavle cover. anyone know what causes this.

I have also seen valve covers with NO baffles in the bottom of the tubes, they were just holes up and out. If it is only a slight amount of oil, find some brass wool (Like steel whool but made of brass) and put it into the filters then put 1 layer of rag around the filter on the outside. This should stop it unless it is pretty bad.
