CARTERSVILLE, GA – Week 9 of the 2011 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series season will see nine events over three nights at eight tracks in four states. Flomaton Speedway in Flomaton, AL will be a busy place over the Memorial Day Holiday Weekend with two Old Man’s Garage (OMG) East Region NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series events.

Flomaton Speedway will be in action on Saturday and Monday nights. Three drivers from Flomaton Speedway fill top ten spots in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Old Man’s Garage (OMG) point standings. Kevin Maher of McDavid, FL is in the fifth spot. Josh Huss of Flomaton, AL and Chris Griffin of Flomaton, AL are tied for the sixth spot.

Since the rules state that the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Week runs from Monday to Sunday, the Regional points drivers earn at Flomaton Speedway on Monday night will count towards their Week 10 Regional point totals.

New Senoia Raceway in Senoia, GA and Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL will also be in action this Saturday night with NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Old Man’s Garage (OMG) East Region action. New Senoia Raceway has two regular competitors in the Top 10 of the OMG East Region standings with Doug Ludwig of Grantville, GA in eighth, and Russ Ogletree of Phenix City, AL in the tenth spot. Ogletree will be looking for his fourth win of the season.

Talladega Short Track has five weekly competitors in the Top 10 of the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Old Man’s Garage (OMG) East Region point standings, including the top four drivers.

Jimmy Elkins Jr. of Talladega, AL is the NeSmith Chevrolet WRS OMG point leader followed by Adam Gauldin of Talladega, AL in second, third is Mike Combs of Odenville, AL, and Brian Ponder of Talladega, AL is in the fourth spot. Brett Holmes of Eastaboga, AL is in the ninth spot of the OMG East Region point standings.

Tim Staples of Pell City, AL got a late start on the season, but he will be looking for his fourth win in five weeks this Saturday night in NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage (OMG) East Region action at Talladega Short Track.

NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region Week 9 competition opens on Saturday night with events at Drew County Speedway in Monticello, AR and at Whynot Motorsports Park in Meridian, MS.

Chandler Petty of Austin, AR will be looking for his second straight and fourth NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region win of the season on Saturday night at Drew County Speedway. Whynot Motorsports Park is the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series home track to eight of the Top 10 drivers in the West Region point standings.

The 2008 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region Champion and current West Region point leader Jim McDuffie of Meridian, MS will be looking for his fourth win of the season on Saturday night at Whynot Motorsports Park.

Michael Arnold of Hattiesburg, MS is second, Larry Murphy of Meridian, MS is third, Randy Boyd of Marion, MS is fifth, Tony Lawson of Laurel, MS is sixth, Wiley Williams of Stonewall, MS is eighth, Tim Dees of Meridian, MS is ninth, and Justin McRee of Tuscaloosa, AL rounds out the Top 10 of the NeSmith Chevrolet WRS West Region standings.

McRee will be looking for his second straight and fourth win of the season on Saturday night in NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region competition at Whynot Motorsports Park. Drivers competing in Saturday night West Region events will also have three options to choose from with Sunday night West Region races.

Centerville Speedway in Centerville, AR will be in action with a Sunday night NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region event. Centerville Speedway has had three different winners in three races this season. Petty, Johnny Virden of Russellville, AR and Travis Ashley of Batesville, AR have all visited victory lane at Centerville Speedway.

Greenville Speedway in Greenville, MS will be in action this Sunday night with NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region action. Duke Palasini of Leland, MS will be looking for his fourth straight win this Sunday night at Greenville Speedway. Bobby Jordan of McCarley, MS is currently seventh in the West Region point standings.

Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, MS will host its second NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region event of the season this Sunday night. Chris Ragan of Ramer, TN will be looking for his second straight West Region win of the season this Sunday night at The Mag, and Jeremy Shaw of Millport, AL will be looking for his third West Region win of the season.

Drivers participating in NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series events compete for prize money at each event, and each track will pay out a point fund at the end of the season. Drivers are also competing for the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Regional point fund that pays $5,000 to the Champion and pays back through the top ten spots in each Region.

A driver’s Regional point total is made up of their best event point total on a weekly basis, plus bonus points earned by perfect attendance at a single track and participating in NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series Touring events. The NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series runs through October 2.

The dirt late model race cars in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series are powered by the economical GM Performance Crate Engines that are built and sealed at the factory to prevent any expensive modifications.
