Austin Hubbard Scores First Win of 2011

Seaford, Delaware (06/01/11) – Austin Hubbard took the #19 Beitler Enterprises/Rocket/Cornett Racing Engine Super Late Model into battle in a total of five features over the course of the Memorial Day weekend and came away with five top ten finishes as well as his first win of the 2011 season!

Austin opened the ultra-busy weekend as he made the trek to Winchester Speedway (Winchester, Virginia) for a $3,000 to win, Three State Flyers event on Friday night as 30 cars entered the event. Heat race action saw Austin start in the sixth position before advancing to a fifth place finish, which locked him into the 14th starting spot for the 35 lap finale. During the course of the event, Hubbard would advance four spots to finish in the 10th position.

Saturday night found the team at Hagerstown Speedway (Hagerstown, Maryland) as he took part in another $3,000 to win, 35 lap, Three State Flyers event. Thirty-seven cars took part in the race, and after a wild heat race, Austin blasted his way from the fifth starting spot to a second place finish, which resulted in him locking into the dash, where he recorded a third place finish to lock into the third starting spot for the main event. He would run third early in the event before moving past Gary Stuhler for the second spot on lap seventh. Hubbard would chase leader, Jason Covert, for the remainder of the event before registering a second place finish.

On Sunday night Austin ventured to Hesston Speedway (Heston, PA) for a pair of $2,000 to win, UFO Super Late Model Series events. With 45 Super Late Models on hand, Hubbard would charge from the 13th starting spot to a 7th place finish in the first feature, while the second event would see him race his way to a 3rd place finish.

Austin concluded his busy Memorial Day weekend in a big way on Monday night at Bedford Speedway (Bedford, Pennsylvania) in a $2,000 to win event. After winning his heat race, Hubbard locked into the redraw for the feature, which left him starting ninth. Despite starting deep in the pack he would make his way to the third spot by lap 6. He would work into the second spot by lap 18 before racing into a lead, which he would never relinquish on his way to his first feature win of the year! He was followed across the stripe by Jack Pencil and Rick Eckert.
