Steve Francis Competes in Three Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series Events this Past Weekend: Preps for Eldora Dream XVII

ASHLAND, KY – Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series driver, Steve Francis of Ashland, KY competed in three series events last weekend coming home with two top six finishes to stay fourth in the LOLMDS championship point’s standings.

Steve made his first ever appearance at Cleveland Speedway in Cleveland, TN on Thursday Night, June 2. In a rough and tumble feature event Steve was able to bring home an 11th place finish, despite running in the top ten for most of the race.

On Friday Night, June 3rd the Steve Francis Racing Team headed to Tazewell Speedway in Tazewell, TN for the Toyota of Knoxville 75. Steve would win his heat race and in a very competitive main event he wound up fourth for what would be his best finish of the weekend.

A trip to Florence Speedway in Union, KY on Saturday Night, June 4th with the 25th Annual Ralph Latham Memorial on tap. Steve, who had won the race twice previously roared from the 15th starting position to finish sixth. He was running fifth until Earl Pearson jr. passed him in the waning stages of the race.

This weekend Steve will be in action at Tony Stewart’s Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, OH for Dream XVII paying $100,000 to win. Steve has made the starting grid in the richest first place prize in dirt late model racing a total of 14 times. His best finish in the annual event was fourth in 2003.

A reminder to all race fans to tune into the broadcast of the 19th Annual DART Show-Me 100 from Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, MO on Sunday, June 19th at 5 PM Eastern Time on the CBS Sports Spectacular.

Steve and the rest of the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series regulars will be in action next weekend with a doubleheader of racing action. On Friday Night, June 17th the series will venture to Cherokee Speedway in Gaffney, SC for the “Grassy Smith Memorial” followed by a trip Saturday Night, June 18th to Wythe Raceway in Rural Retreat, VA. Both events will pay $10,000 to win.
