    STARS Volunteer Racing Series preps for trip to Boyd’s Speedway on Friday June 24th

    SOMERSET, KY (June 10, 2011)—The STARS Volunteer Racing Series presented by Arizona Sport Shirts will invade the Boyd’s Speedway in Ringgold, Georgia for it’s fifth-ever time on Friday Night June 24th.

    The event on Friday Night June 24th at the Gar (not a nice word)(not a nice word)(not a nice word)(not a nice word)son promoted facility will feature the STARS VRS Late Models racing for $3,000 to win / $300 to start.

    The event was moved from its original location of Friday June 17th because of a local area festival featuring country music stars to its new date of Friday June 24th. The following Friday July 1st the STARS VRS and STARS MDRL Late Models will both invade the Wartburg Speedway in Tennessee for a $7,500 to win / $500 to start main event.

    This will be the second of three series appearances to the Speedway and fifth-ever visit with Ronnie Johnson, Billy Ogle Jr. and Skip Arp picking up victories during the 2010 series stops. Josh Putnam of Florence, AL won the May 6th event at the Speedway by the STARS VRS. The track mandates that mufflers are mandatory for the Super Late Models. The Crate Late Models, A & B Hobby and Front Wheel Drive classes will also be in attendance.

    Ross White of Knoxville, TN the defending STARS VRS Rookie of the Year now leads the STARS VRS Points with a 20-point lead over Watsonville, CA driver Eric Jacobsen.

    Further information on Boyd's Speedway can be obtained by logging on to www.boydsspeedway.net or by calling (706) 891-6803. Boyd’s Speedway is located at 1481 Scruggs Rd, Ringgold GA on the TN/GA border off of US 41 and less than one mile from I-75 at the East Ridge exit.

    The gates open at 4:00 pm EST with Hot Laps slated for 7:00 pm at Boyd's Speedway. Adult Grandstand Admission will be $15.00 with Pit Passes being $30.00.

    There will be a complete show of practice, Group Time Trials, Heat Races, Consolation Races and the 40-lap Main event at Boyd’s. The VRS Late Model tire rule is as follows: Open Front, Hoosier LM40/1600 and American Racer MD-56 on the REAR. It is mandatory that these tires punch 60 with the durometer before any qualifying or race.
