escort flywheel help
i just bought a 94 escort flywheel for a 1.9l. i plan on using the mustang clutch and pressure plate, the tranny is a mid 80's 4 speed. What do i need to make everything work.

All you need is a timken 614037 TOB (from a 70s chevy truck, inline 6 motor), the rest will bolt together & work fine. The ford TOB is too short & wont disengage the clutch with the thinner flywheel.

Do NOT use the stock Mustang flywheel to crank bolts!!!
They will appear to torque up properly, but the shoulder contacts the crank before they truly tighten up on the flywheel. It will end up coming loose, and probably breaking the bolts
Get the bolts from the Escort, new if at all possible. '91 - '96 1.9L are all the same.

Also I had to get my Escort Flywheel bolts from a Ford dealer. I could not get them from a parts store.

I just got shorter grade 8 bolts from napa, they were less than a buck each. Been using them since '07. Make sure to use the red loctite on them also, torque to 64 ft./lbs.
