    Default getting birdcages off the rearend

    any tips to get my birdcages off the axel tubes? I need to replace the bearings in them. I have loosen all the bolts that hold them together cleaned the tubes but they will not come loose from the present location.

    Try putting a little heat on them.

    When I had to replace my axle tube, I found the sleeve was pretty corroded onto the axle tube on mine. I ended up taking the birdcage apart and pressing the sleeve off of the tube. Once I got it to move it slid off the rest of the way with a bit of effort.

    Have you tried soaking it in some lube? I personally like Kroil, but I'd imagine about anything would do. Once you can break the corrosion bond it should get a lot easier.
