Austin Hubbard Claims Appalachian Speedweek Title

Seaford, Delaware (06/14/11) – Austin Hubbard just completed a busy stretch where he entered eight events in eight days in his #19 Beitler Enterprises/Rocket/Cornett Racing Engine Super Late Model and when the final checkered flag dropped he had claimed two wins and the Appalachian Mountain Speedweek title.

Below is blog-style recap of the week's action:
June 4th, 2011 - The team opened the 2011 Appalachian Mountain Speedweek on Saturday night at Hagerstown Speedway (Hagerstown, Maryland) with a $5,000 to win event that drew a field of 48 Super Late Models. After qualifying fourth fastest in time trials, Hubbard raced to a third place finish in his heat race, which left him starting ninth in the main event. As the feature went green, Austin would quickly begin working his way toward the front of the pack as he advanced to the third spot in the first seven laps. Lap 23 would see him move into the second spot behind race leader, Steve Shaver, as Hubbard followed him for the next several laps with Jimmy Mars in tow. As the white flag was displayed on the 40 lap feature, chaos ensued at the front of the pack as Hubbard went to the low side of Shaver, while Mars went to the high side. The end result would be Mars racing his way to the win as Hubbard crossed the line in second and Mars in third. Overall, it was a great start to the Speedweek for Austin and Beitler Motorsports.

June 5th, 2011 - Round #2 of the Appalachian Mountain Speedweek was held on Sunday night at Winchester Speedway (Winchester, Virginia) as another talented field of 50 Super Late Models entered the $5,000 to win race. Via an inversion draw of four after time trials, Hubbard started on the pole for his heat race, and he would charge to the win to lock into the redraw for the feature, where he pulled the fourth starting position. In the feature he would run in the top five for the duration of the race getting as high as the second position before slipping to a third place finish at the checkered flag behind race winner, Josh Richards, and Jeremy Miller.

June 6th, 2011 - The third night of the Appalachian Mountain Speedweek came to life on Monday night at Roaring Knob Motorplex (Markleysburg, Pennsylvania) for a $5,000 to win event as 46 cars entered the event. Despite being the next to last qualifier, Austin would set fast time overall. He would draw the #3 invert for heat race action, and as a result he started third in the fourth heat. In heat race action, Hubbard would advance to a second place finish, which put him in the redraw for the main event, where he pulled the sixth starting position.

In the main event he would quickly race his way up to the third position as he pressured Jason Covert and Josh Richards at the front of the pack. The trio would battle for the lead until a lap 21 caution when Austin was forced to duck into the pits to have a flat right rear tire replaced. He would be able to rejoin the tail of the field before green flag action resumed and over the remainder of the event he would drive back to a tenth place finish. Through three events Austin leads the series point's by over 60 markers.

June 7th, 2011 - Another night on the Appalachian Mountain Speedweek was held on Tuesday night, and when the dust settled on the action, it was Austin Hubbard, who stood proud in victory lane after topping the $5,000 to win event at Williams Grove Speedway (Williams Grove, Pennsylvania). Forty-nine Super Late Models entered the event, and for the second straight night Austin would set fast time.

After setting fast time he would win his heat race and draw the third starting spot for the feature. As the race went green Hubbard quickly raced past Stuhler for the second spot as he set his sights on leader, Rick Eckert. Lap 16 would see Hubbard drive past Eckert for the top spot, and he never looked back as he claimed the victory over Rick Eckert and Dylan Yoder.

With the win, Austin further extended his lead in the series.

June 8th, 2011 - Wednesday night was another great outing for the team as Austin entered the $7,000 to win event at Lincoln Speedway (Lincoln, PA), and for the second straight night would claim the feature win.
With the biggest payout of the week-long extravaganza on the line, Austin started the night by qualifying ninth fastest to earn the fifth starting spot for a heat race. In the heat he would bolt to the front to claim the win, and in the redraw he pulled the pole-starting spot for the feature after finishing second in the dash.

In the feature he would bolt to the lead at the drop of the green flag and even a late race caution, which erased his advantage couldn't stop him as he went to pick up the big win over Dan Stone, Jimmy Mars, Devin Friese, and Jeremy Miller.

With just two events remaining the Speedweek, Hubbard's lead continues to build.

June 9th, 2011 - Thursday saw the team at Port Royal Speedway (Port Royal, Pennsylvania) for the next to last round of the Appalachian Mountain Speedweek, which posted a $5,000 to win feature. After running his second in his heat, Hubbard would receive the fifth starting spot for the main event via the redraw. He would jump to the second spot early in the feature, but that is as high as he would get as he pursued Matt Parks the full distance before settling for a second place finish. With the second place finish and only one event remaining in the Appalachian Mountain Speedweek, Austin has clinched the series' title and will be crowned on Friday night at Bedford Speedway (Bedford, PA).

June 10th, 2011 - Austin concluded the 2011 Appalachian Mountain Speedweek on Friday night at Bedford Speedway (Bedford, Pennsylvania)and just by entering the event he clinched the series' title!
The night started well for Austin as he won his heat race to earn the fourth starting spot in the main event. He would race at the front of the pack until the race's midstages when a rock through the oil tank brought his night to an early end. Despite the DNF, he claimed the series' title. June 11th, 2011 - Saturday night found Austin in the Hubbard Motorsports #11 for a $5,000 to win event at Delaware International Speedway (Delmar, DE. The night started well as Hubbard won his heat race to start the night. However, before the feature could be run the skies opened and rain forced the program to be postponed until June 25th, and due to a scheduling conflicting Austin will not get to return.

Austin is slated to next be in action on Saturday, June 18th at Winchester Speedway (Winchester, Virginia) as the World of Outlaws Super Late Model tour resumes their 2011 season.
