Boom Briggs Wins Guaranteed Starting Spot for this Weekend’s ‘Firecracker 100’ at Lernerville

Bear Lake, PA (June 20, 2011) Rick ‘Boom’ Briggs and the Boom Briggs Racing team have captured one of the most coveted prizes in the western Pennsylvania region this past Friday, June 17 after winning the Mid-Season Championship at Lernerville Speedway in Sarver, PA which comes with a guaranteed starting spot for the World of Outlaws Late Model Series (WoO) sanctioned, 5th Annual Firecracker 100 presented by GottaRace.com.

‘Having the guaranteed spot for the Firecracker is a huge relief for us,’ Boom said, ‘It takes a ton of pressure off during the first two days of the event and lets us go out and race. Last year we ran well during the whole Firecracker weekend and won a heat on the first night, but now, we at least have something to fall back on if something were to happen, it’s just a big relief.’ Briggs, in his Meridien Hardwoods, Sorbera Family Chiropractic, Horton Equipment, Asel Enterprises, Briggs Transport, Tony Stec Lumber, Chub Frank Racing, CJ’s Auto Transport sponsored 99B Rocket Chassis took the lead from Ken Schaltenbrand on a lap nine restart and held off a late charge from former WoO Champion Darrell Lanigan for the win.

Boom’s season has been hampered by rain but has still been able to compete 19 times throughout the 2011 season while racking up six top five finishes, most recently this past Sunday, June 19 at Eriez Speedway in Hammett, PA where he finished 5th, and seven total top ten finishes. ‘It doesn’t seem like we’ve raced as much as we have with all the rain that we’ve had this year,’ Briggs mentioned, ‘and the plan is to race as much as we can, we just need the weather and work to cooperate. We’re extremely excited about the Firecracker, we’ve been getting better and better at Lernerville this season and I feel we have a shot to have a strong run. It’s always tough to race against the guys that come in for the Firecracker but we’ve run up front with them before and I’m more than confident that we can do run with them this weekend.’

Briggs and the BBR team would also like to announce that their new 2011 Tee Shirts will be available this weekend at Lernerville for $20.00. Fans can purchase 2011 Boom Briggs apparel at Boom’s hauler starting this weekend and at other vendor’s in vendor’s row at ‘The Action Track’.
