Default Black Diamond 2011 Car Count?

How high will the car count go this year? They shifted the payoff around and now the finale is a full paying feature instead of winner-take-all. 48th pays $1,000, every driver that attends both days gets at least $250. No car entry fees if drivers pre-enter. 1 Driver can win $38,000 and $48,000 will be paid to the 4 feature winners.

Sounds like a formula for a high car count.

The only thing that hurts this race is the fact that there are WoO shows at Tri City (PA) and the Lucas guys run at Portsmouth.. if they had this race on a different weekend when Lucas and WoO were off i think they would have biggest car count of any crown event in the country other that the world 100.

Maybe. But this race had the highest car count of any event on Labor Day weekend last year. That should go even higher with the elimination of the entry fees, the redistribution of the payoff and the higher money for non-qualifiers. There were over 80 different drivers there last year, could it top 100 this year?

70 on Friday & 77 on Saturday with over 80 different drivers attending both days. The racing at Tyler Co has been spectacular this year.

I really like the fact that the WoO and Lucas guys can't come, that means more money for the regional independents and local guys. Let's hope they don't experiment with the calcium again and just prep the track like they did for the last UFO race.

The track was very racey last year too. Start/Finish Positions of 2010 Black Diamond features. Lots of passing going on all night long. On Saturday, the top 10 in the 1st feature advanced 79 total positions and the top 10 in the 2nd feature advances 39 total positions! Davenport alone advanced 23 positions in the 2 features! On Friday the top 10 advanced 38 total positions.

There was certainly passing last year, and it was a good show, but the racing is twice as good when the dust is flying.
