    Cool

I was considering putting this gear set in my street car... it's an 88 mustang with a 5 speed, 373 gears... was thinking that would bump up the gas mileage... I'll start looking around the junk yards... i'm getting about 29mpg right now.. thinking the other gear set will put me around 32 mpg.. just my math??
    thanks for the reply.

the 2.73, 3.08 gears were made for small cars, trucks with small engines without overdrive. it may or may not help your mileage but it sure as hell will be a dog on accelleration. my guess is next to no improvement in mileage. something around 3.50 might help the mpg and still be drivable.

Dont bother. I thought the same thing with my Dodge Ram went from 3.93 to a 3.42 and went from 18 on the highway to 13. Will be changing them back soon and the truck is a huge pig on fuel in the city 6-7 on a good day. You need the gear to push the car through the air when your limited in Horsepower on the highway and to get it to move in the city.
