Aluminum AN Fittings and Hose?

I've noticed all the different hose and fitting manufacturers only recommend using their fittings for there braided hose. But is there really any difference from brand to brand? I don't see why I can't use Aeroquip or XRP or Fragola on a Earl's brand of hose and long as they are made for that type of hose. Am I wrong?

As long as the -(dash) numbers are the same and they are true AN fitting, I think the flare is like 37 degrees, your ok. Plumbing fittings are like 45 degree flares.

Sometimes ID's and OD's are a little different from brand to brand, but I believe for the most part you can swap them up if needed .
