STARS Midwest Dirt Racing League heads to Portsmouth Raceway Park on July 30th

SOMERSET, KY (July 20, 2011)—After nearly a month off, the STARS Midwest Dirt Racing League by Arizona Sport Shirts will be back in action on Saturday Night July 30th at the Portsmouth Raceway Park in Portsmouth, OH paying $3,000 to win / $300 to start for the STARS MDRL Late Models.

This will mark the fifth event of the season, first and only trip at the Donna Rayburn promoted facility located off of Highway 23 in Portsmouth, OH. The STARS MDRL Late Models will take to the track for a complete show of Practice, Time Trials, Heat Races, Consolation Races and the 40-lap main event.

In addition to the STARS MDRL Late Models, the local Open Wheel Modifieds, Limited Late Models and Bombers will all be on tap that night.

The pit gates will open at 4:00 p.m. with the Driver’s Meeting set for 6:15 p.m. and Hot Laps will commence shortly after which will be around 6:30 p.m. Adult Grandstand Admission is $12.00 per person while Pit Passes will be $25.00.

The Tire Rule for the Portsmouth Raceway event is Open Front with the Rear tires being Hoosier LM40/1300/1600 or the American Racer 44/56 and those soft tires must punch 40 cold and the hard tires must punch 60 cold. Steel Block engines must weigh 2200 lbs. minimum and Open Engines must weigh 2300 lbs. minimum with a pound per lap burn-off in all races. The STARS MDRL Entry Fee is $40.00 for members and $50.00 for non-members.

The STARS Midwest Dirt Racing League Late Model drivers are vying for the guaranteed starting spot in this year’s 31st Annual edition of Carl Short’s Dirt Track World Championship paying $50,000 to win which will be held on October 14-15 at Schrader’s KC Raceway in Chillicothe, OH and will be sanctioned by the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series.
