Even if its written on it the only way to know is rate it on a rater.

Even new springs I buy are not right most of the time, they vary enough that I rate them and go by that #.

Is there any way to get the rates other than taking it somewhere? Is there a way i can do it at my house?

Nope, as SCD said, A spring rater is the only way. They are a good investment if you are gonna be racing in a class where you want to change spring rates and try different set ups. I bought mine used on here for $200.00 Best $200.00 I ever spent. I have found brand new springs to be as much as 40# off.
