Carolina Clash makes 3rd visit of the year to Fayetteville Speedway August 6th for the Shirley Autry Memorial

The stars of the Carolina Clash Super late Model Series will once again make the trip to the fast 4/10’s mile track at Fayetteville, NC for a $4,000 to win race. This will be the 10th event of the season for the blue collar tour and the 3rd stop of the season at the Fayetteville Motor Speedway.

Heading into Fayetteville, Dennis “Rambo” Franklin leads the series points. Rambo sits only 4 points ahead of the red #21 car of Luke Roffers. Mike Gault in the Black #17 car rolls into Fayetteville following the points leader by 90 points in 3rd place points. Kenny Compton Jr. holds 4th place in series points only 6 points ahead of the 18m machine of Jeff Smith. ROY contender Chad Paxton is in 6th place, David Taylor 7th, Scott Autry 8th, Dustin Mitchell 9th, and ROY contender Travis Yow holds the 10th place. Tim Allen and Jay Sessoms are within 10 points of making the top ten.

Many of the Carolina Clash competitors are from the Fayetteville area and are always a threat to take the big check in victory lane. The previous June 11th visit to Fayetteville fans watched as Craig Shuffield qualified 2nd and finished 5th, Travis Yow qualified 4th and finished 4th, Scott Autry qualified 10th and raced his way to a 3rd place finish, David Taylor qualified 18th and raced to an 8th place finish.

The only Carolina Clash repeat winner this season has been Luke Roffers. Roffers has 3 clash wins so far this season with two of the three wins coming at the Fayetteville Motor Speedway. Luke will be another driver to watch in the closing laps on August 6th.

As the Carolina Clash reaches the mid-point of the season the points battle is getting down to the nitty gritty. With only a few regular season points races left before the JE Pistons Roush/Yates Performance Chase for the Cup, points are on many of the drivers minds.

The Fayetteville Motor Speedway will honor Shirley Autry at this event on August 6th. Donald and Shirley Autry promoted the Fayetteville Motor Speedway for a number of years. The Autry family has kids bicycles, toys, and gift certificates for oil changes and gas certificates that have been donated by local businesses. These will be given away by a drawing during the night’s events.

At around 6:30pm Paratroopers from Fort Bragg SSAPT are scheduled to parachute in at the Fayetteville Motor Speedway.

Also on the card for Saturday August 6th will be the Open Wheel Modified, Late Model, Super Street, Pure Stock, U-car, and Micro Sprints.

The pit gates will open at 3pm and the Grandstands gates will open at 4pm. Clash drivers meeting will be at 6pm. Drawing/Registration will open at 4:30 pm. Track Ph. # 910-233-7223
Track address: 3704 Doc, Bennett Rd. Fayetteville, NC 28304
