The “Bad Fast Taz” Up Next for American Modified Series on Friday August 26

Glasgow, KY-August 15, 2011- The American Modified Series will begin to conclude its championship march for 2011 on Friday August 26 as the region’s top open-wheel specialist make their first-ever appearance at Tazewell Speedway in Tazewell, TN for the richest event on the tour’s schedule, with the event paying $3,000 to win and $225 to start.

On Friday August 26 at Tazewell Speedway in Tazewell, TN, the American Modified Series will present a full program of practice, A-B group time trials, qualifying heats, B-Mains, and the 40 lap, $3,000 to win “Bad Fast Taz” A-Main event. Other divisions in competition at Tazewell Speedway on August 26 will be the track’s Late Model, Modified Street, Pure Street, Four Cylinder, and Classic Car divisions.

Activities for the August 26 date at Tazewell Speedway will see the pit area open at 4:00 p.m., with the general admission area open at 5:00 p.m. The driver’s meeting will be at 7:00 p.m., with practice set for 8:00 p.m., followed by time trials and green flag racing. Ticket prices for the August 26 Tazewell Speedway event will be $15 for adults in the general admission area and a pit pass will be $30.

Also of special interest for this event, NASCAR racer Ken Schrader will in attendance at Tazewell Speedway on Friday August 26 and will be in competition with the American Modified Series. Along with racing, Schrader and the rest of the American Modified Series will have a special meet and greet autograph session with the race fans in attendance at Tazewell Speedway.

The A-Main purse for the August 26 Tazewell Speedway event is as follows: 1st- $3,000, 2nd- $1,500, 3rd- $750, 4th- $600, 5th- $550, 6th- $500, 7th- $450, 8th- $400, 9th- $350, 10th- $325, 11th- $300, 12th- $275, 13th- $260, 14th- $240, 15th through 22nd- $225 to start.

Tazewell Speedway is a 1/3 mile super high-banked red clay oval promoted by Gary Hall. Tazewell Speedway is located at 1400 Bacchus Road. The American Modified Series last competed on July 30 at Bluegrass Speedway in Bardstown, KY, but the event was rained out during qualifying heats, thus forcing the event to be rescheduled for September 17. Joey Kramer of Hanover, IN sits atop the series point fray, with Michael England of Glasgow, KY only 15 points back in second. Defending series champion John Demoss of Bloomington, IN and Bryan Barber of Greensburg, KY are tied for the third position in points, while the final driver in the top five in series markers is Elliott Despain of Campbellsville, KY.
