“WV State Championship” at “The Black Diamond” & “SuperSTAR Sizzler” UFo Labor Day Weekend Events!

(Mars, PA) The UFo Race Championship will make the trek to Tyler County Speedway on Friday Night, September 2 for the “WV State Championship” presented by United Rentals. This $8,000 to win event is part of the mega $180,000 “Black Diamond” weekend from September 1 to 3 at the track.

This will be the 4th appearance of the UFo Race Championship at Tyler County in 2011. The wide racey surface at Tyler County has generated spectacular action at each event. With already over 100 cars entered for the “Black Diamond”, a massive car count is expected for the UFo “WV State Championshp” presented by United Rentals.

The weekend will kick off on Thursday, September 1 with complete racing programs for the TSMA E-mods paying $800 to the winner and a complete program for the STARS Mod-Lites. Hot Mods and 4-cylinders will run their qualifying heat races and consolations to set Friday night’s feature lineups on Thursday as well as Mini-Wedge racing. Open practice will also be held for the Super Late Models and Pro-Lates. Pit gates open a 2:00 with grandstands at 4:00, mini-wedge racing at 6:00, drivers meeting at 6:30, warm-ups at 6:45 and racing at 7:15.

On Friday, night, September 2, the UFo Race Championship will invade the racey ¼ mile for the “WV State Championship.” Extended-lap heat races of at least 15 laps in distance will determine the initial starting grid with the remaining qualifiers coming from the consolation events. The 55-lap championship feature will pay $8,000 to win and $400 to start. All non-qualifiers will receive a cool $150. The starting grid of 25 cars will include 2 UFo provisionals and 1 track provisional.

In 2010, Brian Birkhofer of Muscatine, IA came out the winner of the UFo “WV State Championship” over a field of 70 pilots. The pre-entry list for the 2011 version of “The Black Diamond” already includes over 110 drivers! Unanimous decision of the UFo drivers with perfect attendance has determined this event will award 75 points to all drivers regardless of finishing position. The UFo “WV State Championship” will have no car entry fee, as with all UFo events.

The FASTRAK Pro-Lates, STARS Mod-Lites, Hot Mods and 4-Cylinders will also contest “WV State Championships” on Friday night. The FASTRAK Pro-Lates will run a complete racing program for $3,000 to win, with the STARS Mod-Lites also running a complete racing program for $700 to win. Pit gates will open at 2:00, grandstands at 4:00, mini-wedge racing at 6:00, drivers meeting at 6:30, warm-ups at 6:45 with racing at 7:15.

“The Black Diamond 125” on Saturday night, September 4 will rock the world with the coolest format of any Crown Jewel event. The World of Outlaw Super Late Models will be split into 2 groups. Each half of the field will compete in a separate racing program including a separate 40-lap, $10,000 to win feature for each group. The top 8 finishers from each group will advance to the $20,000 to win, 45-lap finale. The 45-lap finale will be aligned by a total redraw of those 16 drivers. Donnie Moran of Dresden, OH and Birkhofer split the qualifying features in 2010 with Jonathan Davenport of Blairsville, GA winning the finale shoot-out.

The TSMA E-mods will return on Saturday for their “WV State Championship” full racing program paying $1,000 to the winner of the 30-lap feature. Pit gates open at 2:00 with grandstands at 3:00, driver autograph session at 4:00, drivers meeting at 6:30, warm-ups at 6:45 and racing following.
