chain or no chain

was hoping someone would let me know the benifits the non benifits what it actually does when you run one shorter and also when you run it longer what does it do..............i have ran late model past 7 years and have never ran a chain everyone is telling me i need one in mods would it be ok to go without???

Yes, you should have a limiting device like a chain on the LR. It can damage the shock by using it as a travel limiter. A shorter chain will take drive and side bite out of the car, and a longer one will give you more side bite by raising the CG so it rolls harder, and also gives more J bar angle and forward drive by increasing bar angle and dynamic wedge TO A POINT. If you go too far you will roll steer the car too much and it will loosen the car up.
