INSTEAD OF LOWERING YOURSELF TO THAT LEVEL WHY DON'T YOU JUST IGNORE EVERYTHING SAID AND ONLY STAY ON THE EXACT SUBJECT!!!! INTERJECTING INSULTS JUST SHOWS YOUR LEVEL OF MATURITY IS EVEN LOWER THAN HIS. AFTERALL I SEE NOTHING WHERE HE'S CALLING THE GUY NAMES LIKE YOU GUYS ARE.

go to the open wheel modified section. look down the postings until it lists fast boys by scooter40. it is used mainly on mods but can be used on other classes. i set my springs up a lot like scooter describes but can't run the floater or the long shackle. the front of the spring acts almost like a solid link with all the spring action happening behind the axle. i've never heard of it being used on pavement.

Really???/ you want to start attacking me for suggesting an alternative? Come on i see nothing that you offered what so ever. NOTICE WORDING LIKE "MAYBE" AS FOR ANTIQUE, ANY VEHICLE OVER 20 YEARS OLD IS CONSIDERED AN ANTIQUE IN MY STATE AND YOU CAN GET SPECIAL COLLECTOR PLATES. LAST YEAR FOR 4 CYL MUSTANG 1993 (18 YEARS AGO) LAST YEAR FOR PINTO 1980 (31 YEARS AGO).

THE NEON IS LIKE THE "PINTO" 15+ YEARS AGO. WHEN'S THE LAST TIME YOU FOUND A PINTO IN A JUNKYARD. I HAVEN'T SEEN ONE IN OVER 8 YEARS. SEEMS A LOT OF MUSTANGS THAT ARE 1/2 DECENT ARE GETTING TURNED INTO DRAG CARS IF YOU CAN EVEN FIND ONE FOR A GOOD PRICE. 15 YEARS AGO WE WERE BUYING FOX MUSTANGS THAT EVEN RAN FOR UNDER $200. WITH JUNK PRICE FINDING ANY MUSTANG IS GETTING NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE FOR UNDER $800

I would look at parts in the area and what is winning. If you can get pinto parts then go for it as you have one, they can win, and it will save you money. The Mustangs can win but you would have to start from scratch or buy one. When Pintos were plentiful you could not get someone to build a mustang if you gave it to them ready to race, same with metric full size and a chevelle/camaro chassis, now strut cars and metrics are the norm. There are some good options for a FED car but the rules at some tracks do not allow FWD cars in any class but there own.
The pinstang has been done and they are fast, they are actually more trouble to build than a full tube chassis. The cars that were done ran in Florida on asphalt and dirt and were built when I was at Midwest Motorsports. There are also some 4 link camaro clip 80's montecarlos running around and a 70's camaro clip, 90's camaro 4 link with a Montecarlo body on it. The rules do not let a Camaro run but a monte is Ok.
To do the Pinstang we would cut the floorboard off at the turn up of the firewall. The reason we cut it there was we could place square tubing into the frame and hide the connection better and brace it with the cage. You have to modify the pinto clip to get it to line up the best but then level the suspension with blocks and then build the cage on it. You can even shorten the chassis to run the pinto body OR leave it longer for the mustang body.

We've been racing Ford 2.3 rear wheel drive off and on for the past 13 years. I've built up a fairly good assortment of stuff. Not sure I wanna scrap all of that stuff and start anew. Just call me a creatcher of habit. I can at least use the motor, tranny, wheels/tires from my Pinto on the Mustang.

They jury is still out on all of this. I am going to have the car put on a frame machine and find out if all of the points are in their correct places first.

I understand that aspect. I went thru the same thing some years ago with the fords had all the stuff was fairly fast. But the neons came out and started whooping butt. I didn't want to run the same thing (dont care much for dodges). So i sold off all my ford stuff and went toyota. First year out 4th in points. Never did that good with the fords and twice the investment just in my motor.

HERE'S A THOUGHT. I'VE SEEN ESCORTS DO WELL AND ONE GUY HAS A PINTO MOTOR IN THE ESCORT. APPEARANTLY THE 2.0 BOLTS UP TO THE ESCORT TRANS.

Although I am leaning that way (pretty hard)... I still have a bit more research to do in order to completely make up my mind.

REALLY OVER 100 WINS, WHERE YOU YOU RACE? I'D REALLY LIKE TO SEE A GUY THAT'S SO DOMINATE. THE LAST GUY I'VE SEEN THAT WAS ALMOST AS MUCH OF A WINNER AS YOU WAS (not a nice word)(not a nice word)(not a nice word)(not a nice word) TRICKLE

SO WHAT IF POBORT SAYS STUPID STUFF, YOU DO THE SAME THING AND HIS SPELLING IS BETTER THAN YOURS. JUST CALLING A SPADE A SPADE.

SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT. JUST BECAUSE YOU DON'T LIKE A GUY DOESN'T GIVE YOU THE RIGHT TO ASSULT HIM VERBALLY AND USE DEROGATORY REMARKS. HOW WOULD YOU LIKE IT IF SOMEONE PULLED THAT ON YOU? BESIDES, I REITERATE, IN THIS TOPIC HE DID NOTHING WRONG NOR DID HE DO ANYTHING DIRECTED AT YOU WHAT SO EVER.

every track i've run has both together and they are pretty darn close. Saabs, vw's, neons, escort, mustang, pinto, camaro, porsche 914, vega, monza, talon, shadow, charger, cavaliers, nissan 200sx, toyota celica, and more all race in the same division. The top 15 cars are all within .4sec qualifying. Only 2 people have won the feature more than once. 8 different winners in 13 races

i have a race pinto plus a street pinto that i have in my back yard that i will put a turbocoupe engine in for my wife to drive around in. i can find at least 10 pintos within 25 miles of my home. mustangs are even easier to find, many for free. i guess it is a benefit of living in northern california. around here fwd's can run with other ministocks but either can't compete or can't take the pounding the rwd cars can. the only classes where the fwd are better is in the pure stock mini type classes where few modifications are allowed. i own more then just fords. i had a nissan z24 minitruck and still have a 20r/22r hybred mini mod. as far as newer engines go i have looked at the 2.5 dohc ford duratech and the 2.7 dohc toyota for future use, but for right now it is cheaper and less work to run the pinto/mustang, celicas, or some of the nissans.

No hmm here, i have been around a while and i saw that post but the guy i saw with the pinto motor in an escort was in rockford il. When we were up there for a special bahama brackets. Where i run the gen 2 and gen3 escorts do pretty good with 1.8 dohc and 1.9's do well also. But then we run asphalt. Maybe fwd does better on pavemnet vs dirt IN MOD CLASS.
