Brady Smith Bags $10,000 for World of Outlaws Win at Merritt Raceway!

(SOLON SPRINGS, WISCONSIN) The Brady Smith Racing team captured their third triumph of the 2011 racing season and their biggest win to date this year on Saturday night, August 20 at the Merritt Raceway in Lake City, Michigan! Brady Smith swept the night's racing activity in his first-ever visit to Merritt, as he laid down the quickest lap in World of Outlaws Late Model Series qualifying and later won his heat race. After drawing the pole position prior to the start of the 50-lapper, Brady led flag-to-flag to claim the $10,000 victory over Dennis Erb, Jr., Jason Feger, Darrell Lanigan, and Josh Richards!

A day earlier, the #2 team entered another $10,000 to win World of Outlaws Late Model Series program at the Winston Speedway in Rothbury, Michigan. Brady timed in fourteenth fastest during the qualifying session and later grabbed the fourth and final transfer spot through his heat race. Unfortunately, the Solon Springs, Wisconsin ace retired early in the 50-lap main event with overheating issues and wound up twenty-third in the final rundown. Full results from both shows in the Wolverine State can be viewed online at www.worldofoutlaws.com.

“It was our first time ever to Merritt and we had a fantastic car right out of the box,” exclaimed Smith earlier this week. “We were fast, there is no doubt about that, but we also had some good luck on our side too. If we didn’t redraw the pole for the feature, it would have made it awfully tough to have won the race. But, things went our way and we were fast enough to capitalize on the great starting spot. We haven’t hit the road as much this year, so these $10,000 wins are a lot harder to come by – it is definitely an honor to win another World of Outlaws Late Model Series race!”

Brady has opted to take the upcoming August 26-27 weekend off from Dirt Late Model competition. The #2 team will return to action over the Labor Day holiday weekend, but it is unknown at this time when and where they will race next weekend.
