Jimmy Mars Claims Tenth Win of 2011 at Manitowoc; Starts Prepping for Labor Day Weekend!

(MENOMONIE, WISCONSIN) The Mars Racing team made a last-minute decision to invade the Manitowoc Expo Speedway in Manitowoc, Wisconsin on Tuesday night, August 23 and it paid off to the tune of a $3,000 victory! Jimmy Mars won his heat race in preliminary action and later rolled off from the outside of the front row in the 40-lap WDLMA main event. The Menomonie, Wisconsin ace then dominated the feature by leading flag-to-flag to record his tenth win of the 2011 campaign over A.J. Diemel, Nick Anvelink, Justin Hirt, and Russ Scheffler. Full results from Manitowoc can be accessed online at www.dirtondirt.com.

“It was good to rebound with a win at Manitowoc after posting a couple of disappointing finishes in Michigan last weekend,” quoted Mars today via telephone. “We had a great car all night, but heavy lapped traffic made things interesting late in the race. Luckily, I was able to get through it without something crazy happening and went on to the victory. It is going to be a busy month of September, so we are going to spend some extra time at the shop getting our equipment in order before heading to Fairbury next weekend!”

Jimmy and his #28 team have decided to take the upcoming August 26-27 weekend off from Dirt Late Model competition. They will be busy prepping their equipment for a huge Labor Day holiday weekend in the Land of Lincoln. The Mars Racing team will travel to the Fairbury American Legion Speedway in Fairbury, Illinois and the Farmer City Raceway in Farmer City, Illinois from September 2-4. The three UMP events at those two venues will pay out a total of $20,000 to the winners. Below is the upcoming schedule for the team:

August 26-27 | OFF
September 2 | Fairbury (IL) American Legion Speedway, UMP | $5,000 to win
September 3 | Fairbury (IL) American Legion Speedway, UMP | $10,000 to win
September 4 | Farmer City (IL) Raceway, UMP | $5,000 to win
