Default Jewell Nabs STARS Co-Sanctioned Stars and Stripes 40 at Richmond Raceway

    FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Jewell Nabs STARS Co-Sanctioned Stars and Stripes 40 at Richmond Raceway

Richmond, KY- Richmond Raceway would present the Stars and Stripes 40, co-sanctioned by the STARS MDRL and STARS VRS series presented by Arizona Sport Shirts, and Mike Jewell of Scottsburg, IN would visit victory lane in the co-sanctioned event and pick up a $3,000 payday.

The event would start single-file after three aborted starts due to accidents, with Ross White taking the initial race lead, with Mike Jewell and Tyrel Todd in hot pursuit. Jewell would work past White for the race lead by lap 5 and by lap 10, Jewell and Todd had settled into a nice battle for the race lead. Todd would take the top spot on lap 11, with another caution waving to slow the action. Back underway, Todd and Jewell would continue to battle side-by-side for the lead, with Jewell having secured the top spot once again by the halfway signal. Jewell would proceed to survive four more caution periods in the final half of the 40 lap event and the checkered flag first aboard his Southern Indiana Rock Drilling/MPC Motorsports/Morgan Foods/Rick Julian Towing sponsored #9 MasterSbilt Race Car powered by a Cornett Racing Engine. Todd would finish second, while Hatton would recover from a spin on first attempted start of the event to race his way from the rear of the field to finish third. Jason Barrett and Timmy Yeager would complete the top five.

Jewell became the eighth different winner in eight races with the STARS MDRL and the seventh different winner in seven races with the STARS VRS.

The remainder of the top ten would be Dennis Roberson, early race leader Ross White, Jimmy Robinson, 18th place starting and hard charger of the race Russ Gabbert, and Donald Barrett. The event would be slowed by numerous caution periods, with 10 of the original 22 starters taking the checkered flag.

In preliminary action, Aaron Hatton would be the overall top qualifier among 23 entries at 15.108 seconds. Heat race checkered flags would be captured by Hatton, White, and Jewell.

Also, Joey Daniel was disqualified and has been banned from any STARS-sanctioned events until further notice after attempting to run over a series official after being put off the race track for rough driving and refusing to start at the tail of the field during the main event.

The STARS VRS tour will return to action on Friday September 16 at Boyd’s Speedway in Ringgold, GA, followed by a Saturday September 17 event at Cleveland Speedway in Cleveland, TN. The STARS MDRL tour will return to action with its finale on Friday October 8 at Southern Ohio Speedway in Wheelersburg, OH.

The Fallout from this race..."In many, many" regards will be simply EPIC! Tilly, you may have cemented your dirt racing fate with this one. Sad deal honestly, just another black eye for Ky
racing. What happened before the race, during the Race and after the race........will ultimately be the end for you. Terribly bad actions Chris.....just terrible.

Thought track was great Fast, not bad rough, some dust but no more than can be expected (your at a dirt track)
Seen Joey almost run over Tilly and DQed is what happened and well deserving.I personaly never seen anythingelse other than Hatton hit everything on track. The Street stock driver in the 20 car needs to learn how to lose gracefully cause the 3 car was faster and never touched him for the 2 laps that he was under ,outside ,and behind of . and when the 3 finally passed the 20 car boom bam bang game over JMO that the 20 car was a sore loser but we all cant be like 18 of Kyle Bush lmao....

Are you'all are talking about the " Gentle Giant" Joey Daniels?

    Talking

I'm sure Joey Daniel was just going to give Tilly a "love tap" cause we all know Tilly is such a nice guy. ________________________________________

Apparently Tim Tungate spun out in front of Daniel and Daniel made contact with Tungate while he was spinning. Tilly sent Daniel to the rear for aggressive driving after this but Daniel wouldn't go. Tilly then proceeded to talk to Daniel about the situation and Tilly must've used some pretty bad language in order for a driver to act like he's attempting to run you over. Daniel then put his car in gear and followed Tilly around until Tilly finally got behind a barrier for protection. This is what I was told anyway.

typical Richmond. Go to a real late model track..... go-karts are a viable option for Richmond...

This had nothing to do with with the fact it was at richmond, I have saw drivers act stupid at a lot of different tracks and in different states. Don't see how you can blame it on track.
