With the ford 2.3L, 90% of the power is in how the head is built, milling, porting, cam type, etc. Good boneyard bottom ends will live up to 7500 RPMs. All of my 2300s are stock rod/crank with oversize pistons and a windage tray & Ive never had any issues.

X2 on the Iron Duke.Except for the crummy block, oiling system, crank,& rods it might be an ok motor for racing.LOL..................Run the 2.3/2.5 Ford.
