CARTERSVILLE, GA – NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series will return to Greenville Speedway in Greenville, MS for the two-race Delta Nationals this Friday night and Saturday night. The series regulars will take on a strong contingent of local NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series drivers.

On Friday night at Greenville Speedway it’s the $2,000-to-win Delta Nationals 40 and on Saturday night, it will be another complete show on the ¼-mile high-banked gumbo clay oval with the $2,500-to-win Delta Nationals 50. These two races will be Rounds 12 and 13 of the 2011 NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series season.

Dan Breuer of Troutman, NC leads the NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series standings with 1,008 points and holds a 36-point lead over two-time NeSmith Chevrolet DLMS Champion David Earl Gentry of Murfreesboro, TN. Breuer has two wins, with his first of the season coming at Greenville Speedway on April 9, eight top five finishes, and 11 top ten finishes in 11 starts.

Gentry is still looking for his first win of the season, but has 972 points based on six top five finishes and 10 top ten finishes in 11 starts. Matthew Turner of Dawsonville, GA is third with 876 points after two top five finishes, six top ten finishes, and one fast time award. Turner has two career series wins, both of which have come at Greenville Speedway in 2009 and 2010.

Chase Edge of Lafayette, AL is fourth in the NeSmith Chevrolet DLMS standings with 782 points, and the college freshman also leads the VP Racing Fuels Rookie of the Year point standings. Edge has four top five finishes, six top ten finishes and one fast time award. VP Racing Fuels will pay $5,000 to the top rookie driver in the point standings at the end of the season.

Shannon Lee of Lumberton, MS is fifth in the NeSmith Chevrolet DLMS standings with 774 points and Steve Cooke of Mt. Airy, NC is sixth with 766 points. Mark Tice of Avon, MS is seventh in the overall points and second in the VP Racing Fuels Rookie of the Year standings with 692 points. Tice will be competing this weekend at his home track.

Frank Wilson of Harold, FL is eighth in the NeSmith Chevrolet DLMS overall points and third in the VP Racing Fuels RoY standings with 676 points. Tootie Arnold of Bude, MS and Mark Rosner of Maryville, TN are tied for the ninth spot with 548 points apiece. Arnold is also fourth in the VP Racing Fuels Rookie of the Year standings.

The 2011 NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series Champion will win the NeSmith Cup and pocket $20,000 out of the $50,000 point fund that pays back ten spots. In the first 11 events of the season, 156 different drivers have competed and $130,805 in prize money has been paid out.

Greenville Speedway regular competitors represent eight of the Top 20 drivers in the final 2011 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region point standings for non-touring drivers. Duke Palasini of Leland, MS was the 2011 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region Runner-Up with 11 wins this season at Greenville Speedway.

Bobby Jordan of McCarley, MS finished fifth in the 2011 NeSmith Chevrolet WRS West Region point standings with one win this season. Bubba Harrison of Cleveland, MS finished tenth in the West Region standings, and Brent Barrett of Cleveland, MS was 11th with one win. Lamar Furr of Hollandale, MS finished 14th with two wins.

David Carpenter of Greenwood, MS finished 18th in the West Region standings with one win this season, and Kenny Carpenter of Cleveland, MS was 20th. Also expected are Johnny Stokes of Columbus, MS, Mike Boland of Cuba, AL, and John Polasini of Leland, MS.

Stokes was the 2010 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region Champion and has two wins this season. Boland is second all-time in NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series career wins with 10 and one of those coming at Greenville Speedway. Polasini finished the 2011 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region competition with two straight wins.

Race Fans will also have an opportunity to get into the action on Saturday night with the NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series “Ride For Life” two-seat dirt late model race car to benefit the local chapter of the American Cancer Society.

Race fans will be able to bid at an Intermission Auction and through a drawing from ticket sales for a six-lap ride at race speed with one of seven drivers. Polasini Racing is also donating a Race Fans Pack, a cooler full of special prizes valued at over $200. Fans can purchase chances to win the Fan Pack for $5 per ticket.

All of the proceeds from the “Ride For Life” auction, “Ride For Life” ticket sales, and the Race Fan Pack ticket sales benefit the local chapter of the American Cancer Society. Drivers donating their time and talent to give lucky fans the “Ride For Life” are Dan Breuer, Mark Tice, Duke Palasini, Bobby Jordan, Johnny Stokes, Bubba Harrison and Brent Barrett.

On Friday night at Greenville Speedway, the pit gate opens at 4 p.m., NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series Pre-Race Registration and Technical Inspection will from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m., and the Drivers Meeting will be at 7 p.m.

On Saturday night, the pit gate opens at 3 p.m., NeSmith Chevrolet DLMS Pre-Race Registration and Technical Inspection will from 5 p.m. to 6:45 p.m., and the Drivers Meeting will be at 6:45 p.m.
