The 2011 racing season is gearing down. Flyin Ryan Montgomery and crew couldnt have asked for better results than what they've achieved over these past couple of weeks. 14 year-old Ryan Montgomery has vyed for the Fastrak Future Cup Series title this year and has never taken his "eye off the ball." With the point calculations coming to close and the tight battle he's been waging with some fierce competitors, his win on Saturday at Sharon Speedway was especially sweet! Let's recap the past couple of weekends....

On Friday, September 9th, the Flyin Ryan crew headed up to Elkins Speedway. Ryan was able to win his heat race which secured him a solid starting position for the feature race. Montgomery would finish in the second spot that night. On Saturday, September 10th, Flyin Ryan was found at Roaring Knob Motorsports Complex for the last regular season race. Again, Ryan was able to win his heat race and secured the outside pole for the feature. The young driver displayed some important charteristics for any race car driver -- patience and determination. He ran in the second spot through the twelvth lap and then fell back to the fifth spot after being surrounded on either side coming down the front stretch. He let those two pass, cautious not to damage his red High Gear Race Shop Warrior #12 crate car. For the remainder of the race, this youngster picked his competitors off one at a time and was able to claim a solid third place finish. For the first time this year, Montgomery found himself in the front of the point race for the Futures Cup. This was a great feeling for Montgomery and crew heading into this weekend but also put the pressure on this team to gain another round of solid, consistent finishes to try and hold onto to this coveted title.

The #12 Race Team headed up to Sharon Speedway this past weekend for the two-day Apple Festival Nationals. On Friday, September 16th, the youngerster qualified along with the other 36 cars for the right to race in the main feature. Ryan qualified in the third spot. The top six qualifiers ran a dash to secure their spot for the feature race and the young Montgomery held onto that third spot. The third spot was destined to be his as he finished the feature in that same spot.

Saturday, September, 17th, was day two of the Apple Fesitval Nationals and was also the Fastrak Northeast Touring Series race. This night brought 36 cars to battle for the win. Ryan ran in the first heat race and finished in the fourth spot which placed him in the lucky 13th spot! What an exciting race this would turn out to be for the Flyin Ryan Team! Again, the qualities we spoke of earlier would be displayed by this young driver - patience and pure hunger! Montgomery consistently worked his way up thru the pack and found his way into the second spot. But that wasn't good enough! Montgomery claimed the checkered flag after an exciting dash off of turn four in the final lap! This win places Montgomery in the history books as he is the youngest driver to ever win a Fastrak Touring Series race!

For 2011, Flyin Ryan has claimed 5 wins and certainly has the racing community chattering - what a promising future this youngster brings to the sport of dirt track racing!
